the fact that our system of government is set up to give wheatfields more votes than people does not in fact mean that legislating for 8 million people doesn't matter. 1
Those are states and have a whole list of things that accompany them such as senators, actual state laws, etc. NYC may have a lot of people, but it is very limited in scope in comparison. It most definitely does not require a politician from California weighing in.
