This ain't it. This country has run on identity since it's inception and it hasn't stopped. And guess what? Identity controls the quality of the health care and other services you receive.
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25
Pete Buttigieg critiques Democrats for focus on identity
The former U.S. transportation secretary said the Democratic Party should focus more on issues gripping the country, such as health care and housing affordability.

I've been hearing about rotating villain theory since the Obama years and it never has any evidence backing it up and the simplest answer is that in a pool of 40+ senators, some people are bound to disagree with others and vote accordingly.

There's a type of white person that hates minorities in the same way their conservative parents do because they aren't pure enough and won't vote for progressive policies like they want them to. This leads to them searching for minorities with smaller and smaller voices that they can speak for.

The replies to this show that this is a thought exercise to a lot of people. They want people to resist as long as they don't have to go through any extreme hardship of their own. Was it the best option? Probably not, but a lot of y'all would rather other people starve to prove a point.
I think some of you have not taken a single moment to consider that the people who’ve been out of work for the last 40 days and who are presently staring down the prospect of going into the holiday season without a paycheck are *also* calling their congresspeople.

All of these Republican Speakers of the House seem to be terrified of their constituency. I remember Boehner when he basically said that he had enough.

I don't think Republicans really thought this through. This is a great way to lose a lot of support, even from their own side.
NEW: The notorious 287(g) task force program has finally reached the Texas Department of Public Safety, raising fears of widespread racial profiling.

In other words: Texas is deputizing some of its state officers to act as roving ICE agents.

They just can't help outing themselves. Always blaming the person and not the electorate while ignoring that she only had 107 days while also being a Black woman. They want us to think she's a horrible candidate, but we know better.
Kamala is trying unsuccessfully to rehabilitate her persona now that she lost the election to the worst president in history. But she owns the result her actions and no amount of clumsy deflections from mindless gooners will change that.

The new deal excluded Black people and when they weren't excluded gave them lower pay or segregated them and gave them the jobs that White people did not want. That's not even getting into redlining. Black people were largely excluded from the post war prosperity that White people enjoyed.
They were excluded from SOME. And again the conversation isn’t even about the new deal.

It’s about purity testing and winning majorities.

Fuck….

People saw what Twitter became. I am of the opinion that it is good that everyone should not have to interact with everyone else if they don't want to. People have much better things to do with their time than sift through posts from chronic shit posters and people posting obvious misinformation.
Blocking hatemongers is one thing but this trend of using mass block lists to avoid hearing from people who might or might not hold points of view you expect to disagree with is unhealthy imo and hurts the platform.

Bluesky was better off with folks like Margaret Mitchell and Giada Pistilli on it.

Saying it's not hard to see why a Jewish man is spooked by a man who had a Nazi tattoo is hilariously bad optics.
Chuck Schumer is spooked by me. And it's not hard to see why.

I pre emptively blocked someone. They blocked me back, added me to a list. Then they came back today and added me to yet another list. That's some wild shit.

Yep, we got White Dems urging Harris not to run again.
When Barack Obama became president white people, collectively, decided Black people had gained too much political, economic, and social capital.

And its not just the GOP
That's the thing:

White America: Blacks you need to pick yourselves up by the bootstraps and stop depending on us!

Black America: Ok *creates businesses, schools etc. Stops depending on White America*

White America: Now hold on wait a minute! Not like that! *proceeds to burn down Black America*

Post a perfect album from the 90’s that isn’t Nirvana, Pearl Jam,Soundgarden or Alice In Chains.

A lot of these responses are the result of people who have quite a bit of privilege to where they have been insulated from the consequences of their votes.

Whenever I think of centrism and center right stuff, this is what I think about. This is far from what people called Biden and Harris's platform.
i'm fine with a deeper focus on economic issues over social issues but man does plank 2 give the game away

Me remembering game 5 of the 2017 World Series. Also that marathon 18 inning game of the Astros vs. the Mariners in 2022.

Like I don't really care what Internet strangers think of me, I'm gonna do the same Palestine advocacy I do offline all the same, but it's wild how "being Jewish but not simply accepting any old thing people want to say about Jews on here" is equated with "pro-genocide"

Just read a post of someone defending a Nazi tattoo because they want less Zionists and establishment Democrats in office. You can't make this stuff up.

Gamers are arguing that they won't pay $100 for a game and then crash out when their favorite games don't meet expectations and get put on hiatus despite selling ok. Most hobbies are expensive! Look at the price of board games of you really dive into that!

Last post on the subject. I want people to be real honest with themselves and ask who they think is the best chance to beat an incumbent that has been in office since 1997. I think people are using this for their dumb proxy battle that they are losing track of the smaller details.
