So rare I can give an unambiguous welcome to a UK govt policy - it’s a real pleasure to see this long overdue change

Now at over £500k invested.

This is not just climate investment - it will deliver improvements to vital community assets:

Great to see this new investment in zero emission buses. A welcome boost to bus manufacturers and to public transport in communities across the country. Green buses are not just better for climate & health, they’re also a smoother, quieter ride and preferred by both passengers & drivers.
Government invests nearly £38 million to bring 319 new green buses to communities across England
Funding will make bus travel cleaner and more affordable for passengers, while helping the UK to meet its zero emissions goals.

Larger cars are more deadly in crashes than smaller ones

They also produce more toxic gases

An excellent report from Sustrans Scotland that gives children the opportunity to say what they want for the future of transport.

The answer?

More traffic-free paths and quiet routes for walking and cycling, cars to be slower, more public transport and pavements free of cars.

Much more👇
Yesterday we launched our first ever Children’s #WalkingCyclingIndex for Scotland 🎉

We joined Craigdhu Primary School in Milngavie during the #BigWalkAndWheel to celebrate 🌞

The Index report gives children a voice on transport issues.

We should not have to be here, and yet we must be here tonight.

Last month, a young man in his twenties was killed cycling in Stratford.

🪧 Tonight we've come together to call on TfL and Newham Council to rapidly improve the junctions along this route.

Change is needed. Now.

A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, and most of the energy that does, moves the car, not the people.

Sound efficient?

Eight-in-10 (81%) drivers say they regularly see people ‘excessively speeding’. Growing numbers admit breaking the speed limit themselves too.

To carry 50,000 people per hour in each direction, a city needs a 175m wide road for cars.

Even if those cars are electric.

And then there’s all the parking.

OR a city can move A LOT MORE people in a lot less space, with A LOT LESS public money, emissions, pollution, noise etc.

Choices.

Simple.

This is the correct headline for the £3 bus fares which come into effect today.

The government is preventing a huge rise in fares by having a £3 limit.

The policy for the £2 limit was temporary and had Labour not acted, many would be paying much more.
