Emerging risks continue to overlap, shaping how disasters are experienced.

My final 2025 report shows how these pressures interact with inequality and highlight community-led resilience. Inclusion is and will always be essential.

I'd argue that for many of those countries, it was never there.

They did it because it kept critical views at bay.

But now those critical/sceptical views are gaining ground, no need to pretend any further.

It will be to our determent but the powerful elite don't care.

Errr, I think you're missing someone there Pete!?!?
New Jersey and Virginia have chosen well by electing
@mikiesherrill.bsky.social and @spanbergerforva.bsky.social as their next governors!

They are proven leaders who won by focusing on what matters most - how politics and policy can make everyday life better and more affordable.

The idea of “bad help” in disasters is an issue some #DRR practitioners & policy makers are already familiar with.

Support works best when shaped with communities NOT for communities. Listening is key.

So I loved this point from

I don't think we should talk about climate change anymore, we should talk about kitchen-table issues. Like how climate change will destroy your kitchen table and everything else you have

SNAP is not just for the unemployed.

It’s for anyone who’s living below the poverty line, which sadly includes a lot of people who are working full time jobs.

But here’s the thing… even if it were “just” for the unemployed… they still deserve food!

No one deserves to starve.

Autumn reminds us that change is constant.

The cooler days and falling leaves are predictable, yet we still need to prepare. #DRR is similar.

When everyone’s experiences shape planning, we are better prepared for what comes next.

This Monday (13 Oct) is @undrr.bsky.social #DRRDay. The theme “Fund resilience, not disasters” to remind us that how we spend on DRR matters.

Real preparedness means investing in those most at risk, not just the most visible. Safety is a policy choice.

Two of the most common climate misconceptions I see, even among knowledgeable folks, are that (1) most people aren't worried about climate change, and (2) if they were, they'd act.

Not true! Data show (1) most people are worried, but (2) they won’t act if they don’t know what to do-and most don’t.

Imagine this world: after a storm, headlines say “Unsafe housing left thousands exposed” not “Natural Disaster.”

Response fixes inequalities, funding builds resilience, and leaders face questions.

Disasters are human-made.
