January resolutions, because one step at a time.

- No buying food/ coffee at work.
- I will not read the news on my phone.
- I will put my phone away in the evenings, not in my pocket.

Yes I’m aware of the irony of coming back to SoMe shortly before resolving to use my phone less…

Can we all agree that the New Year should start on 2nd January?

The 1st should be more of an inset day.

Use it to get ready, to do what you need to.

I’ll be my perfect self tomorrow…

For new year next year, I would like our Emergency Department EPR to give me an ED Wrapped for the year.

“Congratulations, you saw 1221 patients this year!”

“203 of them had no abnormality detected.”

“You made 1834029274902 senior reviews.”

“Your favourite procedure was ketamine sedation!”

My parents' cat Bridget vanished. As the weeks dragged on they became ever more worried, so to distract himself my dad began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up at some of art & music's most important moments.

I might be a little late to this bandwagon. If you have time, please show your support for the Veterinary education team at Cambridge University.

I’ve had the joy of working with some of their amazing faculty & I cannot fathom why anyone wants to stop their exceptional work.

It seems more and more GPs are refusing to take on shared care with specialist teams for #ADHD.
This makes sense if you think of a GP practice as a small business needing to maintain profit margins.
But most small businesses allow their customers to go elsewhere for a service...

2. Patients are often (still) being given the FND diagnosis when “no disease is found.”

This is not how it should be done.

FND needs to be diagnosed based on positive signs / clinical features that establish that FND is present.

I’ve thought about this a lot recently.

I met some amazing friends through Twitter, and built bits of my career that would never have happened without it.

I sometimes feel guilty that I’m not available online in the same ways that others were when I needed them.
I actually feel sorry for the generation that missed out out on the pre-enshittification era of making connections online

There's a cohort who got to make IRL friends for life on forums/messaging boards/twitter with people they'd never cross paths with otherwise. That door feels all but closed now
Right, that's it. I'm founding a new populist party of the centre called Go Outside!

There is an institutional culture in many parts of the NHS of focussing wholly on money, and just not doing credible patient impact assessments when considering any cuts to service.

Or worse, having them done and treating it as unimportant for many reasons nothing to do with patient health.

I’m incredibly grateful to my wife for checking regularly & spotting when something wasn’t right.

The NHS is amazing & is here for all of us. Check yourself & get checked if it doesn’t feel right.

I’m incredibly impressed by the response.

It is wonderful to see a new system work so well, and as a relative it’s a huge relief to have an accessible system when you have concerns.
