Kentuckian. Appalachian. Social worker. Grown up punk/goth kid.

I'm worth a million in prizes.
Giphy is showing me random RFK gifs with multiple, unrelated search terms: "thank you", "touched", "heartfelt"

Have they gone to the bad place now, too?

Why do all the pasta cooking instructions call for a bathtub-sized amount of water to cook 1 cup of pasta?

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source.

Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

New — The National Treasury Employees Union just sent out an urgent email to all members re: OPM guidance on deferred resignation.

“Don't be fooled. Don't follow this OPM group's guidance. DO NOT RESIGN.”

After another tumultuous day, your newsletter from earlier today was absolutely the resolve and focus I needed during a time that feels increasingly out of control - thank you

They're not rich bc they're smart

What's darkly hilarious to me about how efficient DeepSeek is is that it unravels any credibility that current US technocratic bros have as being the smartest or expert devs in this field

If you're in Illinois, you're on Section 8, and your landlord tries to evict you because of the government funding freeze, email me at sheryl@weikallaw.com. My cases are pay-whatever-you-can.

If nothing else comes from this chaos, I hope more people will begin to understand that people who have fucking clue how the government works do not deserve your votes

If landlords felt put out when people couldn't pay rent during the COVID shut down in 2020, wait till all service workers lose their jobs and can't pay March rent

1,179 people arrested total. 566 people arrested "were only detained because they lacked legal authorization to remain in the U.S." When ICE claims they are only arresting "criminals," they are trying to redefine "criminal." Which is kind of the point of the category: it can hold anyone disfavored.
ICE makes close to 1,200 arrests in one day
Nearly half of those detained don’t have criminal records, according to a senior Trump administration official.

Americans are about to get a crash course in how tariffs actually work. I apologize already to the baristas who are going to have Trumpists yelling at them that Colombia is supposed to pay the coffee tax.
Nearly all coffee consumed in the United States is imported, and the largest source of that coffee is Colombia. Trump is putting a 25% tax on our top source of coffee, and that tax will be passed on to American consumers
BREAKING: Trump orders 25% tariffs on all goods from Colombia after 2 deportation flights were rejected

The cost of access and accommodation for disabled people does not mean that disabled people are a burden.
It means that the costs of discrimination against and exclusion of disabled people by others require efforts to tear down these unjust barriers.

Ask them to slide the warrant under the door and see if there's a judges signature. If it's signed by a judge, it's probably a judicial warrant. If it's signed by an "immigration officer," "immigration judge," or "administrative law judge," it's an administrative warrant.

Just FYI, administrative warrants (like the ones used by ICE) are not judicial warrants (used by cops, signed by a judge).

You do NOT legally have to open the door for an ICE officer with an administrative warrant *no matter what the ICE officer says.*
