Meanwhile, at every major game corporation: "So what we need are celebrity voice actors! Of course! That's what people want!"
It's cool how we keep proving over and over and over again that there's a significant market for narrative-heavy, character-driven, single-player experiences in video games and publishers just categorically refuse to believe us

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

Please help or boost if you're able! One Spirit Lakota is raising funds for the food pantry in anticipation of EBT cards possibly not getting filled for November due to the shutdown.

Funds go to feeding residents of Pine Ridge, which already has one of the worst food deserts in the country.

I think you have to wait at least as much once agented--let alone once you've sold a book--as you did while #querying. So many timelines proceed at their own pace regardless of where you're at.

On this #IndigenousPeoplesDay, I want to shout out some fantastic books by #Indigenous authors that everyone should read, starting with Red Bird Danced by Dawn Quigley, which is one of the best books I've read all year and also ever.

A gorgeous novel in verse.

All my love and support to everyone #pitching today! Even if you don't get the request/interest you want, remember that events like DVpit can still be a huge positive.

I didnt get my agent from a #pitch event, but I did meet some of my best friends😊

Seriously! Tell the people you love what they made!! It's makes creators SO happy to know we had an impact on someone.
Give folks their flowers

No, I mean right now. Go tell someone you loved their work right now. They're on social media just say it, it has never been easier

"They know how much people love--" no they don't go say it right now to a composer or artist or game dev or writer or anyone AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

Even setting aside ethics (but, yknow, THAT) - I just don’t want AI bullshit. I don’t want an AI pop star, movie, book, video game.

Art is a conversation. Why would I stare at a dictionary run through the washing machine when I could read a poem lovingly constructed by someone’s hands?

"I just didn't fall in love with it" doesn't stop once you get an agent. Editors say it all the time. That's why it's so important that YOU don't fall out of love with your stories. Celebrate them and the wonderful work you've done!

Because the world might not always get it. But you do.

Readers, if you enjoy an author's work, you should never feel shy about reaching out, via the methods they make publicly available, to let them know.

You'd be amazed how often a tiny bit of positivity can turn a bad day around.

Wait.
Social media is so hard.
You may have a tweet that does numbers yesterday but by tomorrow it is forgotten and you will need to be witty all over again!

Phew. I need a coffee.
