I tend to think in a threats to validity framework (ala Shadish, Cook, and Campbell) instead of TTE. More and more, I think that's best for me. Even if just as a psychological framing of "here's what is wrong" vs what I see in TTE applications of "here's how it's basically an RCT"
Well put. I wish that were the way it’s playing out, but judging from the cardiovascular literature TTE is going the opposite way, i.e., is adding a blessing to deficient research that satisfies the low-hurdle TTE requirements without doing anything serious about confounding.

The English dub VA for Light Yagami and Quatre Raberba Winner are apparently the same guy. I can't decide how I feel about this information.

What is with these people and hating OTC pain meds?

I'm genuinely asking. What is the angle here beyond simply virtue signaling "strength" in the dumbest toxic masculinity way possible?
JD Vance calls ibuprofen "useless medication" and implies it's not "necessary, safe and effective."

I have to find a way to build this into my lecture on the social construction of measurement

Chuck "Lucy with the football" Schumer. Every freaking time...
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

Marian reforms, Sullan policy. Cool cool cool...
Dems floated a narrow bill to fund the military, which can’t move because the House isn’t in session. Meanwhile, DoD is now going to spend funds not appropriated by Congress to ensure military paychecks continue.

POTUS now both commands and provisions the military. Unconstitutional and SO dangerous

This me, but with robust standard errors
"You need to use a Mann-Whitney U Test here because the data is non-normal!"

My brother in Christ, I have no idea what that is but I most definitely do not need to use it to answer this question

The sort of shit you see in authoritarian/dystopian cyberpunk movies
Can you think of a single movie in which there is a video from the government denouncing its political opponents playing on a loop in public spaces in which that government was the good guy?
A new Noem video is being played at airports trashing Democrats.

"I'm in this picture and I don't like it" - me from ages 15-25
the irony is that what the right offers is a kind of kabuki masculinity that signals gender anxiety and immaturity more than anything.

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy,
Hail our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry,
Poor banished children of Eve;
To thee do we send up our sighs,
Mourning and weeping in this vale of tears

Yeah. My grandfather who used to show me his collection of every National Geographic ever printed, and would get so overwhelmed in family social situations he would go sit on the porch in utter silence for an hour at a time... Definitely neurotypical.
RFK Jr: I've never seen a case of full-blown autism in a 70-year-old man. You're only seeing it in the kids. It's an epidemic.

It is literally unironically just like how we cannot successfully teach our dog to stop eating things that make him throw up because too much time passes between the choice and the consequence

Observational epi folks out here like "whatever happens, we have got DAGs and target trials, and they do not."
We didn't randomize, and there was no allocation concealment or blinding, and we can't really be sure what intervention they got or how the outcomes were measured, but we emulated a trial by drawing a DAG.

James Dobson dying is a staring into the middle distance type of event. You have likely directly suffered bc of him. Few have done more to harm humanity at large in the past few decades. A principal architect of our current nightmare. No redeeming aspect. He was a rat made entirely out of plague.

Look, I know statistical significance is not magic, but we got a stop pretending that p-values north of 0.3 represent anything but noise or insufficient sample size.

Seven years of my life and I couldn't be more proud of this. So many people worked for many years to make this happen. A real testament to academic and community partnerships.
Rollins researchers partnered with Cherokee Nation Behavioral Health to create and apply two new evidence-based interventions aimed at preventing youth substance use. After program implementation in high schools, the results showed reductions in alcohol, cannabis, and prescription opioid misuse.
