No seriously, if you don’t already know me I’m not interesting enough to follow.
In our “educating Babysaur on the music from my youth”, I introduced my kid to Rage Against the Machine today.

Really wish this wasn’t a topical discussion, dammit.

Remember the kerfuffle about the Olympic Village Save-on More grocery store putting up a display in support of an organization opposing the OV school? Well this public hearing 🙄 is the battle ground. Please let council know that a school must be built here and it must not be over-capacity on day 1!
The long-awaited school in Olympic Village is going to City Council for public hearing on February 12!

If you have five minutes, please consider writing in support of the school: vancouver.ca/your-governm... (Choose CD-1 (454) Text Amendment: 215 West 1st Avenue)
Contact City Council about public hearing agenda items (rezoning and heritage)
Tell City Council what you think about rezoning applications or heritage designations being considered at public hearings.

Broadway is closed between Main and Quebec for four months. The city has done nothing to prevent rat-running on Ontario and 10th Ave bikeways, creating a giant mess. We'll be pressuring council and staff to fix this ASAP.

Another day, another bit of paper jammed in the latch to my buildings lobby so the door doesn’t lock.

Based on the package debris strewn around the lobby and outside in the bushes, it worked. Welp. One step closer to getting a PO Box and never having anything delivered to my home again.

Instead of “don’t clench jaw” I’m trying to remind myself “put jaw in neutral position” and oh god I’m parenting myself.

Well, at this point I’ll try anything.

The top three patterns on Ravelry right now are all variations on Norwegian anti-Nazi resistance toque.

Knitting is political.

Anyway, if you’re a knitter, consider picking up a pattern now, support Minnesotans, and hope we don’t need them here.

Melt the ICE Hat pattern by YarnCultMN
In the 1940’s, Norwegians made and wore red pointed hats with a tassel as a form of visual protest against Nazi occupation of their country. Within two years, the Nazis made these protest hats illegal...

Babysaur making jokes about how old I am, calling me a grandma.

KID. I AM LITERALLY YOUR MOTHER. Do you have kids, my 11 yr old sweet son? No? Then shaddup.

Dan, Babysaur and I went to Brewhall for lunch. We picked a couple shareables, some sliders, popcorn chicken, and Babysaur picked … a salad. I love this kid.

“You know self, like most Canadian kids, we grew up with hockey and wasn’t into it, but Heated Rivalry is awesome, let’s see if there’s anything worth salvaging in hockey culture.”

-reads about the Ottawa Senators goalie and the absolute garbage being thrown at him-

Nope, fuck hockey.

Wee tip: it’s icy af this morning and trolleys are having issues with frozen wires all over town. Choose non-trolley routes if you have the option this morning.

Omg the request I made in 2022 for my grandfathers Canadian military records finally came through. 26 pages of godawful cursive to dig through.

Key takeaways on first glance:
- the man really loved his chickens.
- they recommended he not enlist because of my Nana. He was like “nah let’s go”.

So is LinkedIn really is just tech bros jerking each other off over AI or is it just my feed? Good god I’m glad I’m securely employed until I retire with no need to network and don’t have to delve into that nonsense.

The people of Olympic Village were promised a school. They've been waiting for over a decade - putting their kids on buses and driving them across the city to schools that might have a spot.

Parents shouldn't have to play a lottery for their children's future.

Build the damn school.
The Olympic Village Save-On Foods has come out in support of the NIMBYs opposed to the long-promised but unbuilt Olympic Village Elementary School.
