So so gorgeous. Ever since I learned of the Tompkins rewilding of lands they purchased and there conversion into National Parks, I’ve been wanting to go to Patagonia. Hopefully one day.

Opposition to (and hatred of) Obama manifested itself in birtherism, Tea Party protests, and many white American antipathy toward Obamacare (but not the ACA.) His election and re-election sent Republicans in overdrive, looking for their next Willie Horton, more Roger Ailes clones. And I’ll say
The entire anti wokeness nonsense of the past decade was about making this kind of gutter racism broadly acceptable again bsky.app/profile/adam...

Wondering how Epstein built such an expansive and well-connected network. Who were the first to fall for his charm and lies — before he’d begun to amass wealth? He obviously was adept at deception. Was he helped by the KGB master? Who else?
🚨🚨 The #Epsteinfiles is proving to be a source of very damning but essential public exposure of public officials and politicians casting a very wide net also reaching #Brussels. This seems to be just the tip of the iceberg. 🧵

Having worked with and learned from Marty Weil, it seems to me that if you're laying him off, you're functionally getting out of covering local news entirely. He was the beating heart of the Metro section. Interns used to try to get night cops duty just so they could hang out with him.
Sixty years of excellent work at the Washington Post; a beloved figure there. The Bezos team just laid him off. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/05/b...

Have those of us who still care about the integrity of information being gathered, reported, and archived arrived at the time when we need to look outside the country for safe places to preserve the historical record?
This is a terrible shame. SIGAR was the greatest Inspector General in the history of IGs. Pulled no punches, released so much information on corruption, mismanagement, and secrecy we never would have gotten about the Afghanistan War otherwise
The oversight website for Afghanistan reconstruction is missing, with no indication about when it will be available again.

Plus: Congress needs to get serious about body cameras. Here’s two ways it can.

To increase the interaction here on Bluesky, it would help to repost and quotepost more, and not just 'like'.

I expected the cuts would be bad but I'm honestly stunned and sickened seeing how many great journalists the Washington Post just lost. People who nailed huge investigations, documented war zones, exposed horrific crimes, dropped all at once for failures they did not cause.
