I know this video will rub some the wrong way, but I largely agree with all of the central points made.

Particularly that blind/uncritical support for Disney, both vocally & financially, leaves us with continually diminished and vision from the company that essentially created the industry.

Saving this for Christmas Day, since the modern ones are horrendous promotional slop
I have post-Thanksgiving Day parade blues so I’m over here watching the Walt Disney World Christmas Day parade from 1990, as you do.

Learned over Thanksgiving that my parents got hit with the Netflix password sharing. I was paying for the top tier version. Now they have the lowest tier by choice and after I finish stranger things, I’m cancelling. Only reason I’ve kept Netflix was because of my parents lol. Good job!

Disney appears to have met demand for the TRON 4K UHD Steelbook. It has been available for a couple weeks now.

The TRON: Legacy 4K UHD Steelbook is another matter. The recent restock completely sold through. More are needed.

This parade couldn’t have been this obvious of a stream of advertisements when we were kids, right?

I feel like there was a better mix of entertainment to shilling, but idk if that’s just nostalgia fog. This feels egregious.

Best part of the parade tbh
I will not recover from Al Roker giving a little girl a ticket to see the Rockettes for her birthday and she hit him with:

I did that yesterday.

As always, immense respect to musicians playing in cold weather, especially pianists and stringed instruments. Y’all have no idea how painful it is to play busy parts on those instruments with very cold hands lol

I agree.

Especially because the marching bands are *actually* performing live and all the celebrities artists are basically pantomiming lol

As a lover of history, so far the (brief) Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade segment from Sean Evans of Hot Ones about the history of the parade has been my favorite so far.

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

😨😨😨

@progresscityusa.com would you look at this.
When I worked at my local video store and you came in on a Friday night looking for a Disney tape to rent, we were often out of most titles, but we did have a few "other" Disney tapes. Today on the Video Store Podcast I recommend those Other Disney Tapes.

Tech: Went to Disney Interactive to play test a mobile game. Liked the campus so much, I applied for an entry level position. 12 years in the Software QA field.

Music: Mom sang in the choir, always wanted me to pursue music since she never did. Played a bunch of instruments but Bass is what stuck!
