Sending a copy to my niece & nephew!
This holiday season, why not give your kid the gift of becoming obsessed with @dc.com's magical characters so they spend the first 30 years of their comic book career desperately trying to do a book with all of them and then finally getting to do that book!

DC's MISFITS OF MAGIC!

By me!

Just emailed Grove Atlantic with info and documentation on this scam, about which I've gotten two recent reports. It's being run by publishing scammer WestPage Press. Impersonating publishers with fake contract offers is a very common ploy for this type of scam.
ICYMI #WritingCommunity Grove Atlantic is trying to track down scammers, and if you've encountered them, they'd like your help

Just showed up in the mail: a proof copy of @darkhorse.com's physical collection of LAVENDER JACK VOLUME 1! I sort of can't believe how good it looks. It's HEFTY, too. They tell me FOC is Monday so if you haven't preordered yet I highly encourage it: www.darkhorse.com/books/3016-7...

If you saw the sandstorm scene in Lazarus: Fallen #6 and are not sure how I created the balloon effects, I wrote out a tutorial for @rogue151.bsky.social in the thread below. Don't click if you don't want to know how I pull a rabbit out of a hat -- it's not that exciting once you see the technique.
Random comics thing that makes me happy: I’m rereading last week’s Lazarus and I love what I’m guessing @airy.bsky.social did with the speech bubbles here. It conveys in such a fun what the characters trying to talk and it getting jumbled in a sandstorm.

In 2012, a Conservative government awarded April Ashley, a trans woman, an MBE for "services to trans equality".

How far are we from a Labour government revoking that award, because trans people don't deserve equality?
the bbc changed their article from saying 'trans woman' to saying 'biological male who identifies as a woman'.

even if you don't care about trans ppl it should alarm you just how captured the bbc has become.

they will no longer even say 'trans woman'. that's not normal and shows massive bias.

I prefer Roger Zelazny's method: there's an address in Poughkeepsie he sends off to for a page of ideas, which he leaves out on the back step in the evening with milk and cookes (plus a typewriter and a ream of blank paper) and the next morning he finds a manuscript in its place.

Tandis que les néo-nazis paradent impunément dans nos rues et nos media, on expulse ... une dessinatrice antifasciste qui se rendait à un festival de BD !!!
Qui exactement a ordonné cette scandaleuse expulsion ?

this is great

These stamps feature Kate Beaton, Jimmy Beaulieu, Guy Delisle, Julie Doucet, Bryan Lee O’Malley and Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas, alongside some of their famous works.

It strikes me -- not for the first time, but, well, I'm thinking about it now -- that it's kind of astounding that DC put so much trust in Julie Schwartz in the mid-70s, at a time Marvel was eating DC's lunch and comics sales overall were declining, and Julie just didn't seem to be trying very hard.
