The Israeli President, a man that wants peace according to Dr Ed Abrahamson.

Here he is writing messages on bombs that will drop indiscriminately on the Gazan people. No way of knowing who they are obliterating & paralysing. Nor giving a single F.

Our infrastructure is not designed for the age of climate chaos caused by the continued burning of coal, oil & methane gas.

Meanwhile at COP30 they are arguing about a roadmap to phase out fossil fuels!

We are on a highway to hell.

We are not discussing potential AMOC collapse at all. We should be preparing for it’s possibility.

Independent Ireland MEP Ciaran Mullooly also sided with the far-right

The centre-right abandoned talks with the greens, centre-left and liberals on an alternative deal
EU conservatives vote with far right to approve cuts to green rules
The outcome highlights the EPP’s willingness to abandon its traditional centrist coalition allies.

Statistics literacy for all students in Ireland asap. Before we get this sort of nonsense .

186k dead people on SNAP in US.

But over 250k die a month in the US. Obv it takes time to work that into the system.

So this means absolutely nothing, no sign of corruption.
Brooke Rollins: "SNAP is a broken program. SNAP is full of corruption. We found 186,000 dead people."

Many believe reducing immigration will help American workers. The data shows the opposite. Immigrants drive growth, fill essential jobs, boost innovation, and help keep Social Security solvent. Econofact breaks it down clearly. @econofact.bsky.social

How Tighter Curbs on Immigration Impact the U.S. Economy | Econofact
Immigration has accounted for almost half of U.S. labor force growth since 1995. Slower labor force growth would negatively impact employment and GDP growth.

I‘m afraid police state/fascism is going to be the default response to the #polycrisis. Jailing and muzzling those who try to warn about the problem and do something is so deeply human.

Sigh.

But police states are unsustainable, and what is unsustainable cannot be sustained.
In the not too distant future, most countries in the world will treat "environmental" or climate activism as terrorism: "Environmental protesters are being given licence conditions on release from jail that are supposed to be limited to extremism cases."

Most of Ireland's uplands are commonage, ie co-owned by local farmers.

The ONLY real income from commonage is via subsidies, almost always for ecosystem-killing sheep. This is why Irish mountains are all empty wastelands, kept that way by your taxes.

Why are we STILL not paying farmers to rewild??

John Collison was talking some sense and a fair bit of nonsense in his IT post last week. Some of the nonsense was his criticism of @antaisce.bsky.social opposition to Shannon LNG.

LNG is a disaster on every level.
LNG is poison peddled as solution.

Stopping the expansion of LNG and gas in our homes, over the waves, and in our economies is vital to protect the people and places we love from pollution and dangerous accidents.
