Purgatory 2/2/2026
I made this comic and now because of the storms, Circe refuses to go out in the morning, but still insists on waking me up.

Anyway, I posted some new comics on Patreon last week, so come on over linktr.ee/detectiveken
February 2 2026. Ken has been drinking a lot less, but had his first beer of the year on January thirtieth and it completely ruined his now fragile digestion. He’s cut back a lot otherwise and noticed a lot of improvement of his health. He’s likely just going to ease into semi-sobriety and keep with the tea drinking. Otherwise, he’s been busy lately, so here’s some thoughts about Circe. These days, she always wakes him at 6AM to go outside. She keeps her own personal schedule, which allows her to always be around when Ken heads to the kitchen to make dinner. She generally just uses that time to hang out with the dogs.

3PM, Ken's gotta send his details to the Airbnb he's staying in while in Japan. 4PM, It's garbage time, but the cold air stings Ken's sinuses, almost as if he's drowning. 5PM, He watched Steven Universe whilst drawing. 6PM, He had spicy ramen with chicken chunks for dinner. 7PM, Ken muses on the romatasy books he's been listening too. Perhaps he is too asexual, but they are comically horny. 8PM, it's time for him to wind down with some Elden Ring: Nightreign. He still doesn't have a crew though.

He's sick, and has been since the storm a few days ago. 12PM, Circe hasn't returned, so it must be nice out. 12:30PM, Circe returns, not to leave again till nightfall. 1PM, Ken reads some classic Stan Lee and Jack Kirby Thor. 2PM, Ken catches up on drawing these comics, all while drinking some turmeric and ginger black tea.

Being a fascist is a deeply demoralizing experience. You have to not only radically alter your worldview to make reality fit into your unhinged schema, but that worldview is predicated on the notion that the weakest, most unworthy degenerate worms on the planet are somehow overpowering and humiliating you on a moment-by-moment basis. In mechanical terms too, the lowered morale also reduces your volition score—the more you indulge in your delusions, the less you are able to exercise self-control and self-awareness. The point of fascism being mechanically detrimental—the ludonarrative theme—is that fascism is an unequivocally self-destructive ideology, the practice of which only serves to nurture that self-destructive urge and turn it outward. It's not like Dark Side points in KotOR where you can access cool new abilities and get to enjoy being such a nasty lil rascal; you are not supposed to enjoy being a fascist in Disco Elysium. Fascism is the act of self-deception in service of making your own life more painful, solely for the payoff of making life more painful for people you dislike.

Cheated my own system of not buying games by using the 7 euro I earned from Steam trading cards, with a 7 euro Tesco voucher and 9 euro recycling voucher to buy a gift card for Steam, effectively making the money I spent on this 23 euro game... nothing. Doubt I'll pull that one off again.
