I worked for a shitty call center when COVID hit, and we got pizza and ice cream to desperately stop attrition because people were straight up dying from COVID.
They laid off everyone because when people started demanding WFH they refused, and as more people got sick, they couldn't meet headcount

Pizza and ice cream once may be an entire year's planned discretionary budget for a team, they do NOT value them enough to provide common comfort. If their doing this? Their not just scared, their TERRIFIED.

Spoke with a source who told me the call volume is so high, a call center for both Mastercard & Visa is bringing out pizza and ice cream so agents don’t quite amid the rush. Long waits are causing dropped calls.

My prior self was not really that, it was a framework I'd thrown a sheet over, fashioned from scrap iron and broken glass that like a shattered mirror only reflected the emotions of the people around me.
It is buried now. The iron reused as rebar for the foundation, glass powdered within cement.
