Labor leader, David Huerta: “I firmly believe that the people right now who are in the crosshairs of this administration are going to be the heroes of this democracy.”
I spoke with SEIU’s David Huerta, who was arrested in an ICE raid last year and awaits trial.

He says it’s time to go “on offense.”

“Should we use a general strike as a tool? Absolutely. We should be prepared to use that tool because our democracy is worth it.”

Tracking extremist influence in White House policy: "Remigration" calls for the forced removal of immigrants, refugees, and their descendants — including legal residents and citizens — based on race, ethnicity, culture, being perceived as “non-white,” or a failure to “assimilate.”
Once confined to neo-Nazi circles, “remigration” has moved into mainstream political discourse. This timeline shows how a neo-Nazi concept moved through Identitarian networks, and far-right parties, before appearing in U.S. federal policy, with serious human rights consequences.

How “Remigration” Traveled from European Neo-Nazis to the White House

Performative lying. "We can get away with whatever we want"
Key term: “Performative lying”

Investigative journalist Radley Balko on “The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart” podcast:

“When you lie in a way that everyone knows you're lying, it's a projection of power…”

ICE hoping to provoke a martyrdom moment, to justify their rhetoric as a license for brutality. Being an elementary school student in the United States is more deadly than being an ICE officer.
Here's what DHS doesn't want you to know: Working for ICE is one of the safest jobs in America — and last year was the second-safest year for the agency on record.

And the doxxing? It hasn't actually happened even once.

The masks are justified by a lie. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/ice-s-mask...

A huge majority of Americans oppose mass immigrant detention - and communities are resisting Trump's plans to expand facilities to imprison 80,000 more people.
The next phase of ICE’s big ramp-up: a nationwide network of vast detention facilities. But a funny thing has happened with Miller’s authoritarian fever dreams .... Even parts of Red America are saying no. trib.al/G9kIkkK

“This is not a cruel novelty project. It’s infrastructure, designed for permanence and expansion.” 100 million 'deportations' target equals 29% of the us population, unachievable without concentration camps.
My latest: Applauding community defense is not enough. We are organizing resistance to a concentration camp regime. The front lines are everywhere.

“Our days are riding on the learning edge of a whirlwind — crisis management, harm mitigation, helping everyone come to terms with new conditions and new impossible choices that they’re faced with,” says Minneapolis organizer Andrew Fahlstrom.
I talked with three Minneapolis organizers, including Andrew Fahlstrom and Susan Raffo, about community defense in Minneapolis, the social fabric of collective care under federal occupation, and how people around the country should be gearing up for the long struggle ahead. Audio + transcript:

Social movements are more likely to have success when three factors are present: elite conflict, shifting public opinion, and elite blunders.

Mass collective action can create the conditions for these factors to emerge and deepen.
