After nearly 14 years, I'm formally sunsetting the Motorsport Broadcasting website, and have wrote about my decision to do so here - motorsportbroadcasting.com/2025/12/30/b...

Thanks to everyone for their support over the years.

Logging into LinkedIn is saddening. You've been warned - A record number of people are either leaving or have been forced out of Motorsport journalism and jumping ship to PR because the money is shifting to influencers.

Why invite press when you can pay someone to directly make your "content"?

There's not been many good parts to social media in recent years, but following @rorycj.bsky.social and #SophieFromRomania has certainly been one of them good parts...
Three years ago this terrified dog arrived at our home. Since then we’ve been on a long and often difficult journey to make her feel safe with us and there’s more to do but we’re so glad that #sophiefromromania came into our lives

There's only problem. This has just gone out to news outlets from the police. Journalists make mistakes (I do!), a big lie is harder to spot... but it's hard to conclude British journalism aggregation isn't rotten to the core. I think what's really bleak is that *someone else* did die in the canal.

There's an incredibly sad story that's been aggregated across most national and local newspapers today. A 29-year-old mum called Jana Bahvalova found dead in a Manchester canal after failing to pick up her kids. Her family are raising money on GoFundMe for her two small kids on the eve of Christmas.

UK: Sky's coverage of the #AbuDhabiGP averaged 1.87 million viewers from 12:51 to 15:23, with 328,000 viewers aged between 16 to 34.

Channel 4's highlights averaged 1.08 million viewers.

All the figures exclude those who watched in pubs.

Had no idea Nigel Farage was invited to the F1 season finale until I saw this picture... 😐

Silly and stupid F1 2025... had the season ran in *reverse*, the standings heading into Australia would have been:

1. Piastri - 408 points
2. Verstappen - 403 points
3. Norris - 398 points

...and on lap 43 of that race...

1. Piastri - 426 points
2. Norris - 423 points

In 2015, McLaren finished the season ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 12th and 17th. 27 points and 9th overall.

Ten years later, they finished the season on 833 points as both Drivers' and Constructors' Champions.

Unless there is an announcement at the eleventh hour (always possible), the answer to the second paragraph is 'no'.

As it stands, the F1 season finale will be exclusively live in the UK on Sky Sports. Of course, no obligation for Sky to share live coverage with Channel 4 if they don't wish to.
Right now, the only motor sport race airing live on free-to-air TV in the UK next weekend is the Sao Paulo E-Prix on Saturday 6th December on ITV4.

We'll see if that changes in the coming days...

Incredible stat:

On the last Five Occasions that at least Three Drivers were involved in the title decider - 1981, 1983, 1986, 2007 & 2010 - The driver leading the championship heading into the race never went on to win the title.

Can Norris break the curse?

Funnily enough I pointed out to someone earlier that technically Max Verstappen can still win the Drivers' Championship.

Is it realistic? Unlikely, but this is Max Verstappen we're talking about. I see its prompted this line of thought from The Race - www.the-race.com/formula-1/wh...
