Did audio/visual stuff at church tonight for the annual carol service. Good fun and nothing went majorly wrong. Few small hiccups but there always are with fairly major productions like this with smoke machines (yes, in a church), many lights, projectors, etc.

I enjoy how Komatsu refused to have their logo on the marbled effect.
Williams have revealed the winner of the poll to choose their livery for pre-season testing next year.

This won't create a rumour or anything about where Verstappen will be in 2027 in F1. Not at all.

🟢 VANWALL RETURN: As we reported earlier this year, Vanwall's intention to race in Asian LMS in the 2026/27 season, over three years since they last raced in WEC, is still alive and kicking...

Do you think they'll make the grid? 🏁

An interesting little tidbit from Genesis and their WEC testing prep:

Due to his Alpine contract, Paul-Loup Chatin hasn't been able to drive the Genesis Hypercar yet, and he won't be able to until January. He also can't attend technical debriefs.

Have been working on an article analysing Toyota's aero upgrade for 2026 and the impact the revised areas may have. It's been very interesting to talk to a professional aerodynamicist about the changes and what the intentions may be.

Publishing: The Age of Unpredictability
Every now and then, I encounter someone who's been working on a book or comic or short story collection, and they ask me for advice on how to "break in" to the publishing industry. There are some authors who like to answer this question with a sardonic, embittered "Don't quit your day job," but I always hated that. So I tried to have a good answer ready for developing writers. (Incidentally, I hate the term “aspiring writer.” My friends, if you write, you’re a writer. That's how verbs work.) I wo

I'm at that point in the year where I just want to sit on the sofa and play video games or otherwise do nothing productive. Definitely not the day job anyway. Unfortunately I have a week and a half left of work. Gah.

Feel very sorry for Tsunoda. He was consistently excellent in the RacingAlphaToroTauriBullsRosso cars, but the Red Bull car and team is so focused on Verstappen means that excelling and doing well is extremely difficult. A shame.

Incredible stat:

On the last Five Occasions that at least Three Drivers were involved in the title decider - 1981, 1983, 1986, 2007 & 2010 - The driver leading the championship heading into the race never went on to win the title.

Current F1 season / title fight is the best argument for why NASCAR’s playoff format is so bad. Full-season points deciding the championship will inevitably lead to some years being a blowout. But when the fight is close it’s transcendent.

F1 should use the shorter, snappier sprint qualifying timings in Grand Prix qualifying, then do something much more experimental for sprint qualifying.
