the takeaway from the Zohran Trump meeting is that Trump is a gullible fool who will temporarily bend to the last charismatic person he talked to.

Zohran played him perfectly but that doesn’t mean Trump is good now. He’ll go back to fascism tomorrow morning after he talks to Stephen Miller

MAMDANI: I've spoken about--

TRUMP: That's okay. You can just say yes. I don't mind.

No single person, especially someone with zero expertise, should be able to just change the CDC website on a whim. The fact that federal health and science pages are no longer trustable is a catastrophe for public health and democracy.

We spent a year investigating billionaires for @washingtonpost.com.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.

You know what fascinates me most about Trump? The one quirk that tells me more about his personality than anything else?

Remember that DM to Pam Bondi that led to Halligan being installed that he posted publicly instead?

He thought he was sending a DM, but he still wrote "Adam 'Shifty' Schiff."

The President of the United States is publicly calling for the political prosecution of his political opponents, urging the death penalty because they urged soldiers to uphold the rule of law.

This should be front page news everywhere. It is not, which tells much about how we got to this point.

As someone who grew up in the Midwest and moved to San Diego nine years ago, welcome to the border. Those of us privileged enough didn't have to notice the despots like Bovino who have governed the desert for decades without regard for life or dignity. The border kept growing, now it's everywhere.

To be fair, technically the CDC may have complied with this apparent promise… by keeping the title “Vaccines do not cause autism,” while adding an asterisk and filling the rest of the page with lies. Cassidy is a fool.

It's really bizarre to me how many people think that the only measure that is standardized across the country is LESS fair than GPAs which operate on all sorts of bizarre systems all over the country, often based on what courses are available at a given school (totally outside a student's control)
basically every single measure of academic achievement is correlated with family income for pretty obvious reasons. the ~20% of SAT variation explained by family SES makes it one of the measures *least* determined by this.
And then we can go on to discuss the fact the only consistent correlation for SAT scores (as well as other standardized educational assessments) is to family income level--which in turn is nicely correlated to race/ethnicity for minoritized Americans.

RFK Jr had committed to Bill Cassidy, as a condition to win his vote, that he would keep website language.

Cassidy in February: “If confirmed… CDC will not remove statements on their website pointing out that vaccines do not cause autism.”

Note the language in second photo.
