we need our little dramas and our little fights! they're compelling! I just don't want to be told that I deserve to die over and over again by worse versions of my dad.

Well, annual federal budget is over $6 trillion. Assuming a consistent spend rate, 0ing both would only buy us about a month of normal operations, and then we would be right back where we are, but without some assets that are helpful in other kinds of emergencies.

@aoc.bsky.social, @robsandia.bsky.social the US has something north of $500 billion in gold reserves, plus $30 billion in oil reserves. Why can’t we literally just cash that in to pay our bills? I mean, it would drive commodity prices down … but no world economic collapse. Serious question.

Interesting … @aoc.bsky.social what’s your take on the Secretary of the Treasury basically trying to talk the 14th Amendment option off the table?
This process started last week in the House. We have basically every Dem signed on and need ~5 GOP to bring a clean increase to the floor.
Hey @aoc.bsky.social, any thoughts on using a discharge petition to get a clean debt limit increase? You'd need all the D senators, most D reps, and a couple republicans.

"The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law ... shall not be questioned." Seems clear.

Making a new tool that’s gonna start life at CLI and want to be able to generate binaries easily. Pondering Swift, Rust, Go. Leaning Swift. Am I wrong? (I don’t have enough followers for much feedback, so if people could like it or reskeet so I get a wider opinionset I’d appreciate it.)

That’s good and bad. It’s good that the WNBA is getting a regular TV slot. It’s bad that it’s not one of the networks usually associated with sports. Not trying to dis your employer, but ION isn’t exactly synonymous with sports coverage. 🙁 I hope that changes…

Reminded of a few things:
- A few of the folks at my grad wore nothing at all under their robes.
- We did often crossdressing days for spirit week. No admin nor student balked.
I don't know if that's more a difference of time (90s-00s) or place (Seattle-area,) but it sure feels like a regression.

Perhaps it differences with medium and case. But I don’t think you can look at the fascination with Gabby Petito or Casey Anthony and see a lot of deep introspection.

Musk bashing the incredibly gutsy journalists at Bellingcat — especially after he linked to the deranged Santa Monica Observer which claimed Hillary Clinton died in 2016 — is grotesque.

When prior twitter management suppressed covid misinfo, it was an “attack on free speech.” Musk limiting bellingcat’s reach because what they are saying is TRUE and he doesn’t like it. https://bsky.app/profile/maxberger.bsky.social/post/3jvv2cf6ksa2j

My first trip to Sephora for myself was yesterday. $200 bucks later and I have foundation, concealer and powder. My color is “cool beige.”

Oh my god...Elon Musk is on a Twitter Space and just said that the white supremacy stuff about the Texas shooter is "bullshit" and there's "no proof he is" a white supremacist.

Reminder: the shooter had swastika and SS tattoos, and he self-described as a white nationalist.

nontechnical version:

this is a big deal + huge step for transparency! most companies keep their code private/proprietary, but bc ours is public, you can literally see every implementation (how we make buttons blue, how mute lists work, etc) & what we're working on at any given moment
alright folks, the app code is now public
