mark cuban is incapable of understanding the difference because like many people with a ton of money he's come to think of paying someone else to do something as the same as himself doing it, in which the only way it ever turns out well is because they care about details and process he is unaware of

So in my book Violent Triangles I take game artists back to fundamentals of game art so you understand what is going on under the hood of your game engine and the tricks to exploit it, all presented in clear visual diagrams.

Stuff like rasterisation, anti-aliasing, overdraw, texture memory etc.

I have spent so much of my very precious free time over the past few days trying to setup this neat data-api thing for my static web app on azure and getting nothing but odd errors...

Finally, after searching through several layers of help, I come across this...

This has quickly become one of my regular podcasts to listen to. Really fun conversations and stories with a wide variety of folks.
Thanksgiving special podcast episode! This week, I responded to an email asking about my work on the Madagascar PS2 game in 2005, for which I made about 80% of the cutscenes!

Video version is on YouTube, too.

"scientists there added an ingredient that would protect the pill for 30 minutes while it is being absorbed. It's a mouthful: sodium N-(8-[2-hydroxybenzoyl]amino)caprylate, or SNAC for short."

I'm amused that the key innovation here is called "SNAC"

At least it doesn't appear that they're trying to impersonate me, yet.

It is unfortunately fitting that this administration's response to "why does air travel suck so much" is "You deserved it because of what you were wearing."
Trump's Transportation Secretary on how to improve air travel:

"People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly... We want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season, help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

Wow does this thread go places... Very entertaining and informative.
I have been doing entirely too much earnest posting about deep things recently, I need to do a proper thread about hippo testicles or something just to keep myself sane.

Oh by the way hippos have migratory testicles.

I was initially talking about Anno, but CoD:Blops 7 coming in with a perfect example.

There's not a single game dev at Treyarch or Raven Software who had this as their creative vision.

This is all exec pushed slop.

When I read this garbage on a Steam page, I assume the "creative vision" is exec bonuses hatred towards the folks that actually build the game.

"AI tools were used to help create some in game assets. In all such cases, the final product reflects our team’s craft and creative vision."
