Fantastic read.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

There was a gunman in my school in 1990. Before Columbine. And it was a shock that reverberated.
Now when we talk about gunman in schools, it’s just another weekday.

Essay: Child psychologist Ellen Braaten often does media appearances, trying to reassure parents and kids in the wake of school shootings. She used to tell her audience that the adults in their lives do everything they can to keep them safe, but she doesn't say that anymore. We haven’t. We don’t.
The more I talk about gun violence, the less I have to say
Child psychologist Ellen Braaten wasn't an expert on gun violence when she received a call from a TV producer in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy. But I did know how to comfort and advise parents af...

2) the first pull on a pint of well kept Guinness

3) the weight of your favorite jacket the first time you *need* it

Bernie is right. Health care should be based on medical science. I’m glad I found out I needed a measles vaccine this summer. And it’s right to provide shingles shots to seniors and vaccines for kids. Let’s focus on health care costs instead of upending the CDC.

Yes. Yes. Yes. The next right thing.
Mayor Michelle Wu knows we need literal war against Trump: "The founders, first with a protest, then with some tea in the harbor, then a skirmish, a battle, a war - they were trying to do the next right thing for their families in that moment. We are doing the next right thing for Boston families."

The greatest provocation of the mob during what would become the Boston Massacre was when the British troops loaded their weapons in front of the crowd. That’s when the crowd surged.
National Guard troops in Washington, D.C. are preparing to carry weapons in the coming days, marking a major escalation in Trump’s crackdown.

This is brilliant. I had never thought about it like this before. It’s the same horrific irony as regulating access to voting while deregulating access to guns. And it’s all related.

Including funding for civics education.
Today, Gov Healey announced that Trump is denying Massachusetts schools & nonprofits $108mil of federal education funds that were already appropriated by Congress.

Another example of how Trump is stealing from our kids to fund his terror against immigrants.
