That time, ~400 years ago, when Jesuits dragged a new world turkey nearly 2,000 kilometers from Goa to northern India.

Fun, but also reflective of premodern India's integration in global networks of trade and travel.

THANKSGIVING HARVEST
Our job is not the harvest
Our job is the seed
For what we sow, we shall reap

Reaping more than we have sowed
It's time for humanity to give back what is owed
Time to nurture the land, sea and air
To Bless our Earth with loving care

🚪 Still nice to look at as door handles!

Happy #Thanksgiving to all who celebrate!

“Fashion is the second most polluting sector in the world. We must therefore adopt responsible consumption. In Guadeloupe, certain initiatives recover textile ‘waste,’ but while some of it is processed in the archipelago, much of the clothing collected is sent to mainland France or Africa.”

@clintsmithiii.bsky.social confirms what all of us who work with students already know. They not only can handle discussions about the tough questions surrounding US history, they are eager to learn. Attempts to ban the teaching of certain subjects reflect adult insecurities and political agendas.
I spent October traveling to schools throughout the South talking to students about American history. What I found were young people who understand we can tell a story that includes both the positive and the negative. As one 8th grader in Memphis said, “Doesn’t seem that hard, just say both things.”
Tell Students the Truth About American History
We owe it to Americans of all ages to be honest about the country’s past, including its contradictions.
