HURRAH! Petitions are crap at making gov'ts do things they don't want to. But they are good for two things: First, making them explain why they won't do something, but second (and more important) nudging/giving them permission to do something they DO want, but that's been crowded out bandwidth-wise.

Paul Doyle’s X account follows 11 others. Three are Nigel Farage, Andrew Tate & Elon Musk. There’s a back story to the rage that entitled him to ram 100 victims with his large car.
Disturbing details emerge about Paul Doyle:
“Paul Doyle, The Liverpool Rammer, was far from the family man he was said to be,
He followed and adored Nigel Farage and Andrew Tate on Twitter and also followed Elon Musk and was a MAGA and Trump supporter”. www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...

Haha, well, I'd say this is a new low in The Spectator's coverage of my Reith Lectures. There is so much wrong with the piece that it’s hard to know where to begin, but a few points stand out --> /1
Given the way things work in the BBC, it comes as no surprise that a Dutchman has been chosen to lecture us on modern British history.

The right-wing media vibeflation around Badenoch is noise. The Tories are polling in the doldrums against a world-beatingly unpopular government led by a prime minister who is detested by everyone except a few Bluesky clowndorks. Ed Miliband's Labour had ten-point leads. Come the fuck on already.

Also, virtually nobody in the party (MPs or members) truly believes it apart from a few crackpot Blue Labour types.
Labour’s shift away from “immigration is good but it needs to be managed” to “it is bad” is a gift to essentially everyone they compete with, because it means that they don’t have the right position to be able to attack *anyone*.
I'm sorry, but these attacks are just not going to convince Green-curious voters, because Labour is so visibly out of step with those voters' core values
