Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Concern has been growing in Europe about the power the United States has over cloud services owned by US companies, including not just the ability to demand data, but to shut it off altogether. Canada faces those same vulnerabilities.

Our European allies are also expressing increasing concern about their dependence on the US cloud giants like Microsoft and Google. In recent months, European media reported that Trump could cut off access to cloud services offered by US tech companies in Europe to increase pressure on them as part of his trade war. The United States also passed a bill in 2018 called the CLOUD Act that allows the U.S. government to access data stored by U.S. companies, regardless of where in the world it’s held. That’s not an infrastructure any Canadian, and certainly not our government, should be relying on. As Carney looks to reduce Canada’s dependence on the United States, we can’t ignore the extent of our technological dependence — and the cloud is a great place to start. Carney’s statement during the election suggested he would look to Canadian companies to supply more of the computation and storage needs of the federal government, but he should be far more ambitious.

The detail shows the Tale of the Affectionate Sea Otters who were reputed to have warmed & dried Cuthbert's feet after a night of him meditating & praying whilst standing in the sea.

The window drew inspiration from the book 'Cuthbert and the Animals 'by John Mc Manners & the Lindisfarne Gospels. So two otters link to “The Tale of the Affectionate Sea Otters” who were reputed to have warmed and dried Cuthbert's feet after a night of him meditating and praying whilst standing in the sea. The Celtic knotwork border is influenced by designs in the Lindisfarne Gospels.
