Trans rights are not the rights of a tiny minority, trans rights are everyone’s rights to self-determination, control of our bodies, and a society where opportunity and aesthetics are not restricted by sex assigned at birth

You should support and defend trans people because trans people are people

Unmarked vans, 50 masked agents who won't identify themselves. Arresting regular people at work, members of the community, people with families, with no allegation of criminal record.

Fuck Trump, and fuck you if you voted for him.
Update: 37 workers arrested at Mt. Baker Roofing in ICE raid Wednesday | Cascadia Daily News
Worker says agents had a 'list and pictures' of those who were undocumented; those detained were taken away in buses

I think the word democracy still conveys that value system.

When we say we're fighting for democracy, we're fighting for those ideals that were the bedrock of America.

But frankly, we haven't lived up to them.

They are still the goal though.

11/ The tariffs aren’t economic policy. They are political weapons.

But as long as we see this clearly, we can stop him. Public mobilization is working. Today, a few Republicans joined Democrats to vote against one set of tariffs.

The people still have the power.

7/ But the private sector also plays a rule to protect democracy. Independent industry has power.

The tariffs are Trump’s tool to erode that independence. Now, one by one, every industry or company will need to pledge loyalty to Trump in order to get sanctions relief.

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

i mean, in my entire life, the democrats have had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate for exactly 8 months total (between Al Franken being seated in July 09 and Scott Brown taking Ted Kennedy's seat in Feb 2010) and they used it to pass the largest expansion of the welfare state since the 60s

Gillibrand on WNYC today said one reason they're all falling in line is that they get death threats.
cassidy changing his tune after what he said on the senate floor is what has upgraded my position from "they are being bribed" or "they are worried about primary challenges" to "they are worried about being murdered"

Pretty telling that the comparison here is “someone scolding you via a video you saw on Facebook that you found annoying” and “complete disregard for legal protections and long standing peaceful cooperation between nations”. It’s actually pretty accurate to how conservatives view the world

We’re not going to split kids into “haves” and “have nots,” especially in the lunchroom.

We’re feeding our children - and saving families millions of dollars along the way.

It’s that simple.
Free school meals has saved MN families $267.8 million in its first year — including many who needed help, but just missed qualifying in the past.

As St. Paul teacher Mandi Jung points out, feeding kids is also just the right thing to do. Hungry students can’t learn. #mnleg #edmnvotes
