So this year I had a story in @calendaroffools.bsky.social's #IntergalaticRejects, a collection of great #SF stories that had gone the long way around to find their home. My story was Boddah, and I'm pleased to say you can now read it for free. I hope you enjoy it calendaroffools.com/stories/bodd...

Watching - and enjoying - the latest season of #TheDiplomat but can't help but notice they seem to have completely forgotten about the escalating conspiracy implicating the now President of the United States in favour of saying it's tricky have two jobs they wouldn't let one person have.

Going to sleep after reading an Alastair Reynolds book, I dreamed about a society that had both smart matter and LLMs, and you couldn't trust your fucking dishwasher not to generate new utensils you didn't need, which wouldn't have worked if you did.

This 100 times over, the BBC is definitely in need of improving but the fact it is the only network outperforming YouTube in the UK and still produces stuff like The Traitors, Doctor Who, Stage Race UK, Strictly, etc that are all widely popular (to varying degrees) is impressive
Obviously right to criticise it when it makes mistakes but the BBC is broadly very good and British people don’t realise how lucky they are to have it.

Without a doubt, it's As A Kang Should Be from @obversebooks.co.uk: I've had a busy year this year, but this one felt like lots of things came together to make this a fun book to write that was perfectly in my wheelhouse but also needed to exist in this moment. obversebooks.co.uk/product/para...

I think Sunder’s spot on here. Someone who just enjoys visiting NT properties and likes a cup of tea and a nice scone is quite likely to receive this as a bit hysterical and/ or a reason to back away slowly.
This latest defeat may exemplify a broader ecosystem/bubble problem for the right: so used now to preaching to the converted in media outlets and online that it struggles to understand how this language (the NT as run by or capitulating to "woke terrorists") might be received by the median member
