A large protest, dubbed “Labor Against ICE,” is expected to start near the Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Portland on Saturday. At least 30 unions endorsed the protest and planned to attend in some fashion.

Meg Ward, president of @cwa7901.bsky.social , said there are still concerns that the federal government could launch an operation in Oregon on a similar level to what’s occurring in Minnesota. She said the protest could be a training ground for how labor unions in Oregon respond.

We got gassed but we are not backing down.

ABOLISH AND PROSECUTE ICE.
A big group stopped outside the ICE facility and federal agents dropped several rounds of chemical ammunitions. The crowd leaving the scene was the most chaotic I’ve ever seen it and the gas was the most intense. I don’t know how/why the gassing started.

It is NOT easy to get this many unions and labor organizations to mobilize together.

Huge props to my comrades at @portlanddsa.bsky.social & @jwjpdx.bsky.social for making it happen.

Historic things are happening as we continue to build power and assert ourselves collectively!

Jan. 23, 2026 will be remembered as the beginning of the end for the ICE regime grasping the throat of the US working class. A coalition of unions - including our sister local CWA 7250 - in collaboration with community groups, has called for a general strike of no working, no shopping, & no school.

The CEI Hub, a six mile stretch of fuel storage tanks between the Willamette River and Forest Park stores 90% of Oregon's liquid fuels.

Everyone who works in or near this geography is at risk of the impacts of a world-historic industrial disaster.

We, as workers, can prevent this future.

Three of my neighbors in district 1 were killed in three separate car collisions last night. We need action now to reduce pedestrian and cyclist deaths.

YOU need to do more to improve your own driving. Do better. Keep your neighbors alive.
