As of late morning, snow was falling in the Red River Valley with northerly winds gusting to more than 40 mph. Weather stations were reporting near-zero visibility at times.

Well, this is outrageous. Florida man keeps bees on a lot he owns. Neighboring lot was sold, new owner came in in JULY and cleared beekeeper’s *20* hives and cut down his trees. Same day, Beekeeper learns of this, new neighbor claims it was a mistake, will fix! He got 14 of his hives back on 11/25.

To add to this, almost all of the U.S.’s problems are linked to its hatred of Black people and that it hates Black people more than it loves anyone else. Our laws and policies are largely based on making sure Black people (and sometimes other groups) don’t benefit even at the expense of others.

I turn of all notifications for literally every damn app. My phone only rings out loud if it's someone who's in my phone book and it only beeps at me if I set an alarm or a loved one is texting.
This is a good thread to read. I will only add that I do not get ANY social-media notifications or news alerts on my phone and it is a foundational building block of my sanity that no nonhuman entity, not even Bluesky, gets to initiate conversations with me.
That's how I'm going to approach social media going forward. I'll get on it when I want to sit down at a computer and physically go to a website, or when I have to use it for work during work hours, but it's not going to be in my pocket notifying me of every single DM, like or reply instantly. 6/

My friend and I usually grab brunch before our TJs excursions. We decided on Egg Harbor Cafe but when I checked the menu, it said they now fry their potatoes in beef tallow. 😒 My friend is vegetarian! We went elsewhere and I have half a massive frittata for tomorrow. NOT cooked in tallow.

my assumption was that there was no non-aggro reason for a governor to call up the national guard during protests, and certainly that covers MANY of the reasons, but it is also the “preemptively block Trump from being able to command them himself and order them to shoot people” loophole

just had my biweekly 4-hour phone call with my best friend who lives in Minneapolis and boy we screamed out a lot of cathartic rage but I did learn one useful fact I didn’t know! when a governor calls up their state’s national guard, it means the president then cannot federalize them

There's a guide I read at some point for writers about how to not use this shit, and one of the points it makes is that you can just use a word that describes the ACTUAL behavior.
