Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

BBC accused of 'extraordinary' anti-Green bias after party say the Laura Kuenssberg Show scrapped a promised interview with @zackpolanski.bsky.social on Sunday.

I’m sad to hear the news that the wonderful Jane Goodall is no longer in the world. Her work with chimpanzees at Gombe in Tanzania taught us to look at other apes - and ourselves - differently. I was privileged to meet her later in life and tell her what an inspiration she was to me.

can't really begin to explain the extent to which I do Not want to be filmed without my knowledge by someone wearing smart glasses while out and about
good video hands-on with meta's smart glasses. i've been skeptical on smart glasses for a while, but it looks like the hardware side of this is finally becoming feasible? plus, in a world where kids list "creator" as their dream job, POV video recording is v attractive youtu.be/5cVGKvl7Oek?...

Thank God we don’t have the cancellation of satirical comedy in this country. I can’t wait to see how they deal with the Trump visit on The Mash Report, Mock The Week and Frankie Boyle’s New World Order!

Expect more silence from the Royal Society in the face of their most notorious fellow advocating for the overthrow of the democratically elected government of a country he is neither a citizen nor a resident of (yet he is a fellow of their most prestigious learned society).

It's maddening to me how much Covid is at the root of so many of today's crises and we just...don't talk about it?

Take the spike in children needing SEND provision. Did anything huge and traumatic happen recently that might have affected thousands of kids? No? Must be parents making it up

It occurs to me that the narrative that British Jews support the genocide in Palestine might be about as accurate - not very - as the narrative that women support the cruelty of trans exclusion.

One reason the revolt on disability benefits is looking so substantial is the line being used to defend it lacks any integrity.

To claim that the purpose of cutting PIP - a non-means tested benefit - is to help people back into work requires saying something untrue.

I want to see non-disabled people shouting about the disability benefit cuts. If you spoke out about trans rights, abortion rights, or migrant rights in recent weeks? Good on you! If you aren’t doing the same for disabled people, ask yourself why.

Absolutely surreal to have lived through the Napster days and watched as the titans of industry moved hell and high water to lock down any possible chance that someone's song might get swapped online without giving the studios a cut and now those same people are just like "well we gotta steal music"

you know. I bloody agree with this. the BBC is FAR FROM PERFECT & does fuck up.

the reason I keep making programmes for it is: as an organisation it is still *basically trying* to give a truthful view of the world. which, as their billionaire owners tell us, much US media has basically given up on.
NEW: With the media landscape is changing around our ears, what's the point of the BBC?

Tim Davie's answer - it's the thing that will stop us falling into polarised crisis where there are no shared facts.

Expect more beeb on YouTube/TikTok.

This is spot on on the distinction between Powell and Starmer's speeches and the much more meaningful criticism of the latter.
To be clear, Robert *is* a supermodel. But apart from that it's all entirely correct
Starmer's language was deplorable.

It was grotesquely offensive, accusing people who have brought their gifts to this country of doing "incalculable" "damage"; & politically foolish, in endorsing Farage's claims of an establishment conspiracy.

But bad analogies with Powell miss the key problem. 🧵
