Some U.S. media (such as the Washington Post here) trace U.S.-Iranian animosity back to the 1979 Islamic Revolution, conveniently forgetting that the CIA helped overthrow a democratically elected Iranian government in 1953, forcing Iranians to endure decades of the Shah’s brutal rule.

There are bad things and good things about elder care but today my mom got a placental skin graft and THAT was kind of cool.

Cannot emphasize this too strongly.
So: In 2017, Congress made this happen:

NIH: Proposed 22% cut --> 9% increase
NSF: Proposed 11% cut --> 4% increase
NOAA: Proposed 16% cut --> 4% increase

Obviously, 2025 is not 2017. A lot is diff now. But still:

💰 Congress, not WH, sets budgets.

📞 Public support & calls to Congress matter.

Yesterday an Official-Type Person challenged my relationship with my (adopted) mom, for whom I provide care. The purpose was to safeguard her, which I understand and respect, but it was nonetheless terrifying and gave me nightmares. There’s gotta be a better way.

Whoever arranged for my elderly mom to move, my kid to have surgery, and for me to have a major research deliverable all in the same month should 100% be fired from all decisionmaking.

Seeing a lot of coverage about the closure of Boulder Abortion Clinic. I’m grateful for the abortion I received there 9 yrs ago. But I wish the stories included that there are great all tri clinics with competent providers (who are younger and most of them women) where people receive excellent care.

I was lucky to find trans-femme aunties who took me under their wings when I was a young queer cis-girl. They were my support network during some really hard years. I knew they would be there for me, and I will always be there for them and for all of the other awesome trans folks in my life.
cis folks, i'm curious for you to share answers, if you want:

what made you start caring about trans rights? who'd you know/what happened? tell me the story.
