I don't follow many folk, but I do use lists A Lot. I often add followers to lists I've created & keep all lists pinned to my home tab. I also use a 'followers' feed (also pinned) for folk that don't fit lists.

This gives me the best chance to see your posts & engage without feeling overwhelmed. 💜

Well that’s me locked out. No pay for the foreseeable future, all because I refuse to reschedule lost teaching, for which I have already lost pay as part of the strike. Please donate to support @sheffielducu.bsky.social members like me at www.gofundme.com/f/heubvb-sup...

Trump’s letter is bonkers, batshit, emotionally dysregulated, vindictive & terrifying.

And who the fuck writes like this?!?

Also: a stated intent for total & complete control of Greenland, again.

This is BAD. BAD. BAD.

Congress can end this today or tomorrow or any time of their choosing

You are not unable to do anything or unable to take action.

I dreamt last night that I had a groundbreaking insight into Christian Slater's monologues, and that once you recognised it, it lost its effect. I shared this with a CS fan in the dream and they stopped being in his thrall (?). Annoyingly, I never explicitly said what the insight was.

You have to block them immediately. The full nuclear. They are only here to make folks angry, and that can’t happen if we lock them out.

In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

The UK Government’s decision to include Berwick Bank in the Contracts for Difference scheme is a disaster for Scotland’s seabirds.

Killing tens of thousands of these incredible birds isn’t just reckless, it could push many species towards extinction.

We know it’s possible for renewable energy projects to be developed alongside the protection of marine wildlife.

But the scale of Berwick Bank puts our already under-pressure seabird populations at risk and public money should not be used to support it.

I genuinely want to be able to celebrate the renewable energy contract news with everyone else, because it *is* good news, but the Scotland contract is for Berwick Bank, which could devastate already fragile seabird populations, including the largest global colony of Gannets.
Dark day for seabirds as RSPB Scotland respond to damaging Berwick Bank mega windfarm being consented - Inside Ecology

Happy new year! My all sky camera imaged the sky every 15 seconds and this picture shows what happened in the sky in 2025. It shows the length of the night and day with the hourglass shape, the monthly lunar cycle with the diagonal bands, the elevation of the Sun at local noon, and lots of clouds.

super interesting paper in @conbiology.bsky.social on how different groups feel about 'native' versus non-native species decline in Canada, particularly how White people put a much greater emphasis on nativeness in their response.

Your last chance to see the Outsiders exhibition in its current form will be at Street Level Photoworks, Glasgow in April/May. That isn’t the end though as I’m developing a powerful new exhibition on homelessness, in collaboration with another photographer, which will be shown in Leeds in 2027.

If I was to set an intention on this Hogmanay, it would be a continuation rather than a resolution. To aim to move within my various environments with intention, care, self-reflection, and compassion, in a way which hopefully nurtures ripples into the wider world. 💜 Lang may yer lum reek. 💜

'Tis the season of New Year's resolutions! But, if you, like me, are guessing that 2026 will be full of uncertainty and disruption I'd offer a slight twist. Think about how, in the year to come, you can invest in your coping capacity.

I did some cyanotype practice at home the other day. This one uses part of a quote by John Muir. The full quote is 'The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness', which feels like a good vibe to bring into the new year. 💜🌲🍁

Fully agree with 'only cite stuff you've actually read' re: AI in academia, but it needs to be paired with 'give folk proper time to read & reflect'. The pressure to read/write/produce can drive shortcuts. Primarily thinking students here, but also academics, who need proper (paid) research leave.

I'm a bit embarrassed at how long it's taken me to switch from Spotify to Tidal, I think because I've long had a practice of buying physical versions of repeat listens. But I *do* still stream stuff I own physically, & folk should be paid properly for their work.

Personally, I choose not to use GenAI/ChatGPT & variants for ethical and environmental reasons. In my personal life I do judge folk who use it casually.

BUT, in my therapy work I hold a far more neutral position on folk using it, and I think it's important to be clear on why. (1)
