We don’t need AI to “be creative” for us; we need a world in which there is time and space to wonder, joke and play with words. To fuck around with color and texture, to experiment with an intriguing sound, without the need to immediately convert process and artifact into engagement to stay solvent.

Autistic burnout, at this time of year. Changes in routine. Increased social activity and masking. Expectations on how you’ll spend your time, your money and your energy. Sensory overload, different lights, textures, smells and sounds. It’s ok not to be ok, even when it’s “the season to be jolly”.

Does anyone remember a famous photo (I think a magazine cover) where the model has a plaster / band aid on their finger?

I *think* it was Meg Ryan or someone in the 1980s or 1990s.

I can't find any evidence or it, but both my wife and I distinctly remember it.

Any suggestions? (Hopefully not […]

Take a moment to appreciate the wonderful Jim.
THREAD.

3 years ago, with no warning, a brilliant orange farm cat wandered over from the draughty barn where he had been living, in rural Cornwall, and decided he wanted to live with us instead.

We decided to call him Jim.

This is the first photo I took of him, on that night: December 1st, 2022.

I also need non-Autistic Australians to participate, so I have a comparison group. It’s slightly faster if you’re not Autistic, as you skip all the questions about experiences of diagnosis.

Any shares of this much appreciated! When my ex-publishers collapsed, taking over £20,000 of my earnings with them into the void, all my books suffered but none more than 1983. This is me trying to repair that. It’s about:
Childhood
Education
Aliens
Alpacas
The East Midlands
The old future we lost
Hello! My CEO Roscoe and I are giving away TWO signed copies of my novel 1983 to two randomly selected people who repost this & pop a reply below. You also get a free postcard of this illustration of Roscoe by my mum.

It’s been called “Stranger Things rewritten by Kurt Vonnegut & Sue Townsend”…

Hey gang, niche day job question - anyone got a photo of Gate 3 at Yarra Park (around the MCG)? Ideally showing the entrance, view from the street, or something to help a visitor orient themselves? Not having much joy because I don't know the area at all so don't know what I'm looking for!
