The rapidity with which Gaiman fans ditched him versus the lingering adoration of Hairy Bollocks and the Urethral Stone says a lot about who society deems is and isn't a proper victim. And I hate that.

Authors being shit to people is bad, always.

hey guys isn't it weird how they're all saying this at the same time? ignore the fact that this is now happening with Tyler Cowen, an economist who sits at the center of a sprawling system of think tanks and policy "influencers" who have been laundered into DC with both Koch and SV VC money

The problem with rule of cool is that most nerds are deeply uncool
D&D will never improve until people accept that "rule zero" and "rule of cool" are not rules. They're patch guidelines.

Saying "I know the actual rules for this scenario don't work or aren't fun or don't exist, but rule zero!" is like saying "I know the table is wobbly, but you can buy a hand saw!"

Yes is a comma, No is a period. While you don't want to end every sentence early, you can't build a story out of one long sentence.
🧵
As a GM, I say ditch the mindset that "no" is bad, at the table. "No" can 100% be abused and can stifle fun, that's true. But it's contemptibly narrow-minded to vilify "no". Used skillfully, "no" can inspire creativity, protect the integrity of the table, the game world and the story. (1/6)

When ChatGPT first took off this was the use case that confused me the most. People said they “only” used it to write “first drafts.” That’s the most important draft! That’s the thinking part!
Scoop: Business Insider informed its staff this week that they are allowed to use ChatGPT to generate first drafts of their stories, while also indicating the newsroom will not disclose such A.I. use to readers.

Business Insider and the Bots
The Axel Springer-owned newsroom is buzzing over new ChatGPT writing guidelines—part of an aggressive A.I. strategy pushed by its German parentco and detailed in a memo obtained by Status.

my mom taught me there's two kinds of businesses: hot dog stands and art galleries

- hot dog stands protect territory and keep competition off their turf
- art galleries benefit from more adjacent art galleries, cluster together to amplify reach/support

youre an art gallery, not a hot dog stand
Play and discuss as if you were friends trying to get to know each other better, rather than as if you were rival squawking merchants trying to sell competing goods in a marketplace. The world is full of friends and potential friends, and it's much lonelier and more frightening when it isn't.

me jode mucho el argumento de "el comic nacional no vale la pena" por que siento que se resume en:

-No existen autores conocidos
-no conozco dicho titulo = no existe
-no hay variedad (se leyo poco)

se que el comic nacional puede mejorar en cosas como patrocinio, pero es mejor enfocarse

As others have said, it's actually the other way around entirely - wikipedia is just how humans are, and corporations have been trying to enclose us, like they did in the 1700s
“Wikipedia is this economic anomaly. In many ways, it’s sort of magical that people will just volunteer without explicit economic incentives to create artifacts that are meant to share knowledge with everyone in the world”
