Sure, but the government was forced into this because their programme is so disastrously unpopular, even their party’s most timid and compliant MPs felt they had to draw a line somewhere. The lesson taken from all this is going to be: better things are not possible, it’s the glue farm for the poor.

It’s so hard not to feel completely depressed all the time right now.

I made my son a Pikachu birthday card. It was five seconds after drawing the line that I realised my mistake.

Love to live in the Anglosphere. Seemingly the worst version of capitalism on literally any measure of human wellbeing you can find. And with the progressive half of the electorate represented in the electoral system by "better things aren't possible" centrists.
Of all the housing charts not made by MMI, this one is my favourite. It shows how, despite rhetoric, housing shortages aren't a global phenomenon, but they do seem to be an Anglo-American one.

Of course women don't like the Cybertruck.

Women only want one thing, and it's the Immolator pattern armoured assault transport.

Could it be that our leaders and our abysmal media class spent the last decade at least constantly roaring idiotic bullshit to *each other*, listening to nobody except for themselves and each other, and that’s why they’re now stranded in a disaster without the first clue what to do about it

Guess who was watching all that fucking drivel about how the hateful left’s threats are so terrifying, we’ve had to bring bodyguards to conference? Guess who paid attention to those MPs rolling off breakfast TV sofas, squealing in fake terror about how they’ve been cruelly bullied by the red menace.

When the press goes after Labour it’s just because the press is right wing and always has it in for Labour APART FROM 2015-2019 when the press was just being good and righteous and naughty nasty Jimmery Croopins brought it on himself.

We're barely more than a decade away from living on a 2-degree hotter planet. Less than 25 years away from a 2.5-degree one. Beyond that is literally civilisation-ending territory.

And powerful people want you to do nothing about it.

The President of the USA said last week it was a hoax.
During our Climate Chat, someone asked when we reach +3.0°C with current warming rates.

Here I extrapolated the warming rate from 'Global Warming has Accelerated Significantly' by Grant Foster and Stefan Rahmstorf (2025 preprint) to up to +4°C (extending their table 1):

Every attempt to continue sucking the balls of Reform pensioners is just underlining over and over that these awful, horrible people will always prefer to be wrong and catastrophically fuck everyone in this country yet again, than admit they are wrong.

People WILL refuse to vote for a party that persecutes trans people, cuts social security, scapegoats immigrants and supports genocide.

If your response to that is 'nooo, they're voting wrong, they'll let the REAL bad guys win' rather than 'let's make sure they don't have to', YOU are the problem.

Yesterday was the 30th Anniversary of this line read.
One of the greatest line reads of all time. Tim Curry for Command And Conquer, clearly it was a one and done and he could barely stop laughing at the ridiculousness of the line. Perfection

I don't believe in mob violence nor government censorship of speech but it's very hard not to notice that the government that are imprisoning pensioners for opposing genocide with writing on cardboard are worried that people might not be free enough to call for acts of violence against trans women.

Good luck to @zackpolanski.bsky.social

I hope when he wins, and I do think he will win, he makes his position so clear that those in the Green Party, who believe there is any debate to be had about trans people, leave.

If they don't leave, I hope he shows them the door.

No messing around.
