Hi! I'm still figuring this out. There's been a brain drain on X, outside of the crazy politics. I've missed reading people's expertise and thoughts on a huge range of subjects. I'm hoping to find them again here.

I am convinced a major factor in the tariff disaster is that Trump has so consistently been met with cowardice and capitulation from every quarter in American politics that he imagined other countries would just as easily fold to bullying.

This is worth reading this morning. I have been thinking about this myself even as I have been advocating for the psychological warfare of undermining Trump’s ego.

The problem is actually that the GOP Congress doesn’t seem to care at all about what Elon’s doing. New strategies need to emerge.
It was a good theory: That calling Elon "President Musk" would get under Trump's famously thin skin, causing division.

But it's not working. I have a theory why — and it helps explain why Republicans in Congress are okay with giving up power, too.

It's also why Republicans in Congress are letting Musk take over

Maybe someone with the means to do so should take out a full-page ad in as many newspapers as they can that just says “ELON MUSK HAS YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER”
