Listening to the Jimi Hendrix/Band of Gypsys live boxset as I grapple with my bits and pieces for the Thunderbirds Comic Anthology Vol. 2. This is the version of Jimi I vastly prefer; bone-dry funk-rock jams instead of overbaked psychedelia.

Coming up to a whole year since my colossal retrospective of TV Century 21. This is one of my Gerry Anderson pieces that I'm quite proud of - even if it feels like I've still barely scratched the surface of how the comic worked!
Happy 60th anniversary to TV Century 21! 🚀🎉🚀

Here's my retrospective on the making of one of my favourite comics ever. Brimming with quotes from Gerry Anderson, Keith Shackleton, Alan Fennell, Angus Allan, Frank Bellamy and many more players.

TV Century 21 is go!

It's been wall-to-wall Hitchcocks these past 24 hours. The house has been full of the dulcet tones of Cary Grant, James Stewart, Ray Milland. Those accents just don't exist anymore, do they?

The Newage Jetfire remains the goat, but this oversized knock-off of Iron Factory's Jetfire feels a much nicer fit with the Craftsman Toys Computron gang. Recreating those IDW Stormbringer vibes!

modesty laws prevented showing even one lousy frame of John Waters' PINK FLAMINGOS (1972) in the trailer, so the only footage in it is of people reacting to a screening they just came out of. every single type of extant queer person is contained in the specific sequences I have selected here

"You shouldn't make art for the money" buddy I'll take it one step further and say we shouldn't have to labor for capital at all but in the meantime pay an artist

I managed to survive the family shop earlier today, so my reward is my annual rewatch of the best James Bond film ever - North by Northwest.

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Really ought to set up a standing order to Mechanic Studio. These are such brilliantly engineered lads.

Knives out: the upper middle class are squabbling vicious children who do not deserve their inheritance

Glass onion: the new elite are the stupidest murderous cunts alive and deserve your scorn

Wake up dead man: those preaching anger as salvation are leading you to death, hope and kindness matter

Cracking open more of these lads with After Eights and The Magnificent Seven in the background. Quality evening!
Merry Christmas from Fred to Fred. 😅

It has been a jam-packed year for me. House move collapse, job redundancy, family health issues. But! New job, new book projects, family health improvements.

A treat has been earned. Or 13, to be exact.

Reminds me of how John Harris cites transcendental meditation for helping him harnass lucid dreams to inspire a lot of his art. This one's from a dream he had about the moon crashing into the earth

Looking forward to *finally* being allowed to indulge in the 35th anniversary Megazine issue that's been kicking around here since October. 😌
Spent the evening discovering Judge Dredd: America.

WOW. Instant fav. John Wagner really went all in on reminding us why the Judges aren't the good guys.

It is frankly disgusting that Dr. Wu continue to get away with injecting so much visual personality and mechanical ingenuity into their takes on classic G1 lads on such a micro. 😍

I've got a new collection coming out in 2026 (Thin Places in Hard Concrete) so you'd better crack on and read the previous two.
Between them ‘Municipal Gothic’ and ‘Intervals of Darkness’ have 27 stories full of haunted buildings, haunted people, and working class weirdness. Obviously *I* think they're great – but so do strangers who owe me nothing!

I've had a most curious email from a well-known figure in the Gerry Anderson community, someone I had some brief correspondence with some years back, but haven't spoken to since:

"Trust you're well and enjoying the season. May I ask if you often buy things from Amazon?"

what.
