There — I fixed the analysis so it is actually accurate to what happened when 8 Senate Dems caved instead of keeping up the righteous fight to deliver lower health care costs for Americans.

Seattle brings a rare ray of hope for centrists over progressives tonight, as Mayor Bruce Harrell leads Katie Wilson in the first batch of results. 53.5% to 46%.

Caution: This will shift a lot before the final result, and will be very slow.

Ann Davison, the GOP city attorney, trails huge.

The two companies in Washington State with the most employees on Medicaid are Walmart and Amazon.

So not only are these companies and their billionaire CEOs not paying their fair share in taxes — they’re also not even paying their employees enough for them to afford health care.

Now the most powerful official in the White House goes on TV and calls it "the big one to eliminate."

Keeping all 30 proposed Neighborhood Centers is essential for a more affordable, sustainable, and thriving Seattle. If we chip away at them, we’ll be left with the same housing shortages, rising costs and inequitable growth patterns we’ve seen for decades.

Silicon Valley looks like the suburban sprawl ringing every American city, except the crappy 70 year old tract houses all cost $2,500,000. It’s just a profound failure of governance and planning.
If you want to understand how California’s NIMBYism squandered one of the greatest economic opportunities in nearly a century, consider that over the last 15 years, Silicon Valley’s GDP nearly tripled, yet it approved less housing than Austin, Texas has in just four years.

"It is good to enjoy, for one day you did nothing to cause and nothing to earn, the gift of being nothing but alive and happy in the beautiful world." Forget "remote learning." Everyone - even adults - should enjoy an occasional snow day.
In Defense of Snow Days
Inconvenient? Yep. Unpredictable? Sure. Disruptive? Yes. But a snow day is also a minor civic miracle, and we ought to treat it as such.

Imagine how many more trees we would have if we embraced density decades ago! Less sprawl invading nature, we could fit more people and more parks within the city.

Forcing all our growth to continue in single family/ADU/townhomes for another decade is what will threaten more trees!

A lot of hand-wringing over trees at today's city council meeting on the Comp Plan. I'm sure the council will be in favor of going back to Alternative Five and also eliminating parking minimums, two moves that would result in preserving Seattle's tree canopy.
The 1,300-page environmental review of the One Seattle Plan shows that the Mayor's preferred plan would increase hardscape, tree removal, and greenhouse gas emissions, while decreasing affordable housing over the broadly supported Alternative 5.

We already have a housing shortage. We can’t afford to continue underbuilding. Ten years is a long time, we need to future proof our zoning to ensure that we can build the housing we need to support the growth of our city
Seattle has set a goal of 112,000 new homes over the next 20 years, but is that really enough to meet demand?
