#HillfortWednesday Distant view of Sidbury Hill which dominates Salisbury Plain East of the River Avon. An exposed place, capped with Reading Formation geology. It forms the focus for a number of Bronze Age linear ditches.

#StandingStoneSunday @drtobydriver.bsky.social Easy of access, the shapely standing stones at Penrhosfeilu (almost) frame the peak of Mynydd Twr if you look NNW. We stopped by after completing the coast path of the W side of Anglesey last month (recommended!).

The Longstone. Mottistone Down.
The stones are all that remain of a long barrow.
The Long Stone is thought to have been used as a meeting place during the Saxon period and Mottistone – is a corruption of 'moot stone'.

*sounds the "that was probably AI generated information, that's why you can't find it and now at least 2 library staff have had to do first an initial and then a cross check of that information to confirm it doesn't exist so yes, we've had double time wasted by your time saving efforts" klaxon*

Here it is, our case study on how to combine a century of deep (and building) archaeological knowledge around prehistoric social traditions with the new and exciting aDNA data, to help avoid interpretive pitfalls.

I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed the process of writing it 🎁
Who was NG10 and what was the world they lived in? The sister paper to our CAJ paper is now out in Antiquity and the cover image no less! Working on these papers with this group, has been one of the richest academic experiences I have had in my career. www.cambridge.org/core/journal...
