it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

sometimes i wonder how someone gets protested by the groups listed and still thinks theyre the good guy, but then i remember that centrists are mad about the concept of
"moral clarity"
I don't think most if any shows like this with a live audience charge for tickets, but you piqued my curiosity and apparently they've had to make getting tickets to this show more difficult because Bill Maher sucks so much that they were regularly getting protestors into the audience lmao

its likely even more annoying: they decided it wasnt worth it to keep the staffing at warehouses for faster shipping, so it only takes 4 days to ship but it sits on the shelf for 4 days until it enters the pick list
i think some web retailers are flat out lying about delivery times to encourage customers to get the more expensive options. it doesn't take 8 days to ship something domestically, buddy. it's not getting carried over the rockies by covered wagon anymore

the cool thing about medicaid and medicare already existing is that it provides a framework for an incredibly easy transition to single payer universal healthcare

Trump: "You should've suffered a little while through Kamala. The good news is she had no clue. I want to give an IQ test to Kamala and Biden. Who do you think wins?"

they used an actual orchestra and professional singers to make over 8 hours of original music and if you are rolling your eyes at "great video game music" you are so wrong it hurts youtu.be/3kMbTzomh94?...

expedition 33 is interesting bc while the gameplay was kinda novel, it also got repetitive and punishing/unpleasant by the end of the game.. but the story and even more so, impossible to overstate, the *music*, was some of the most moving art ive experienced in years

explaining to the aliens that at this point currency was, beyond being a thing we made up, largely digital and wholly removed from representing any sort of labor or resource value, and that we let immense suffering happen because the number on the screen changed in a way that made us sad
WSJ: “.. If the AI market blows up, the blast radius would be wide, hitting not only Wall Street firms, but also pensions, mutual and exchange-traded funds and individual investors, because of how debt is often sliced and resold across the financial landscape.”

kids today dont know this but at one point in america it was Normal And Good to be proud of the fact that basically everything about america was the result of mixing a ton of ideas/things from other cultures and places, from our government to our media
November 17, 2025 at 11:08 PM
whats cool is that our hyper individualistic culture has made it so that a significant amount of people who see this will just nod and go "yeah that sounds good to me"
Fox guest on how to save money during the holidays:

"Remember, adults don't need gifts. Focus on the people in your life who are aged 3 to 18. Grandma doesn't need slippers. If they don't live by you, don't get them a gift."

this is one of my favorite "dumb thing people think is smart" because i also felt this way in middle school, but then my brain continued developing
Revenge/physical combat was how people settled things for literally millions of years, it's normal human behavior, we're wolves not sheep, the government project trying to social engineer us and domesticate us into sheep has been unsuccessful

I remember in like 2009 being told millennials would be the first US generation to work more hours and achieve more education than our parents but make less money, but I guess i can see how the permagradstudent trust fund kid would think no one complained about economy for 10yrs after housing crash

Part of what makes this funny (besides that he said this in 24 and 23 too) is that the 'evidence' supporting the hill hes dying on is that many wage and cost things have gotten back to precovid trends, with the implication that everyone was really happy with the economy precovid. Its nonsense

I don't expect the bluesky mods to enforce their TOS against government accounts.

But they are the ones who decided to make the social media site where all the autistic people hang out.

"Say what the rules actually are, then apply them like you said you would" is a bare minimum for this crowd.

Because of Maine's outdated constitutional provision on property taxes, Mark Zuckerberg will pay the same tax rate on his 1,400-acre mountain as a working-class resident of Greenville. It's to time fix that and let towns impose higher rates on the wealthy #mepolitics
