Morbid Angel’s 1993 classic Covenant gets a 1/5 burial from Neil Perry. One can only assume Dig from Earache stole his dinner money or something.

Neil also manages to mix up death metal and black metal at the end. Way to go, dude.

It is an absolutely delightful irony that the richest man in the world is universally acknowledged to be a huge fucking loser who not a single living person envies in any way at all
Remember folks: if you have any small amount of artistic talent, any sex appeal, or can make your friends laugh, the richest man on earth is crying screaming throwing up because he can’t be you.

What I usually do is leave without announcing it and then never speak to anybody involved ever again. Usually because of some slight or other that was only perceived by me.
100% correct about the value of the ‘Irish exit’. It always amazes me when people leaving early insist on making it extremely clear that they are leaving early. No one cares! Just go.

Oh come on, saying “I think the IDF should stop shooting elderly Palestinian women in the back” is obviously FAR more antisemitic than making jokes about the Holocaust and praising Hitler.
Anyone noticed how UK media is a lot less obsessed with Farage’s alleged antisemitism than Corbyn’s alleged antisemitism?

Odd that.

There are a lot of really horrific examples of “it can always get worse” in world history but I find Sepp Blatter to Gianni Infantino hits just the right note of bleak whimsy.

I’ll come right out and say it: “We Built This City” is a decent song.

The worst song ever is clearly “Don’t Bring Me Down” by the Electric Light Orchestra. Number one on my bucket list is pissing on Jeff Lynne’s grave.
Lots of takes on "We Built This City" today, apparently.
It's not a song I have ever deliberately chosen to listen to, but its status as canonical "worst song ever" is far more tedious than the song itself. It's neither bad enough nor interesting enough to be worth the performative hatred.

Wes Streeting orders review of mental health diagnoses as benefit claims soar
Health secretary has asked experts to investigate whether normal feelings have become ‘over-pathologised’ The health secretary, Wes Streeting, has ordered a clinical review of the diagnosis of mental health conditions, according to reports. Streeting is understood to be concerned about a sharp rise in the number of people making sickness benefits claims because of diagnoses for mental illness, autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the Times reported. He has asked leading experts to investigate whether normal feelings have become “over-pathologised”, the newspaper said, as he seeks to grapple with the 4.4 million working-age people now claiming sickness or incapacity benefit. The figure has risen by 1.2 million since 2019, while the number of 16 to 34-year-olds off work with long-term sickness because of a mental health condition is said to have grown rapidly in the same period. Streeting told the Times he knew from “personal experience how devastating it can be for people who face poor mental health, have ADHD or autism and can’t get a diagnosis or the right support”. He added: “I also know, from speaking to clinicians, how the diagnosis of these conditions is sharply rising. “We must look at this through a strictly clinical lens to get an evidence-based understanding of what we know, what we don’t know, and what these patterns tell us about our mental health system, autism and ADHD services. “That’s the only way we can ensure everyone gets timely access to accurate diagnosis and effective support.” The review, which is expected to be launched on Thursday, is set to be led by Prof Peter Fonagy, a clinical psychologist at University College London specialising in child mental health, with Sir Simon Wessely, a former president of the Royal College of Psychiatry, acting as vice-chair. I suspect the real reason Nigel Farage is getting so rattled by the racism allegations is that:

1) He knows he said all these things so can't properly deny them
2) He knows that he carried on saying them well into adulthood

Today, Nigel Farage postures as a righteous defender of the same democracy he actively undermines.

Democracy should never be for sale. It's time for a cap on political donations.
