The twin-engined Dakota, also known as the Skytrooper, was based on the Douglas DC-3, and was used in a variety of roles, most notably as transport for airborne troops and as a glider tug.

The Dauntless was the United States Navy foremost dive bomber during the early part of the war in the Pacific. It played a major role in the Battle of the Coral Sea and the Battle of Midway in 1942.

#OnThisDay in 1940 a Bf 108, piloted by Major Erich Hoemanns, crash landed in neutral Belgium with the plans for the German invasion of the low counties onboard, leading to a delay in the invasion and a change of plans.

#OnThisDay in 1934, the first production Boeing P-26A Peashooter flew. 136 Peashooters were built in total and fourteen were at Pearl Harbor at the time of the Japanese attack.
