As of 8:45am ET today you cannot leave a message for @senangusking.bsky.social at his Augusta or DC office bc the mail boxes are full. Call again at 9am and let’s try to reach a staffer. I left him messages last night not to CAVE and he did anyway
Angus King: "This initial strategy didn't work. And now we have one. We're gonna have a guaranteed vote on the ACA, and it may not succeed. I grant that. But a reasonable chance -- 10, 20, 30% -- is a lot better than 0% which is where we were."

Still, this is a band aid for a much larger crisis.

SNAP supports 170,000 Mainers, and the Trump Administration’s refusal to fund it will push hunger to its highest level in nearly a decade.

I’ll say it again: THEY HAVE THE MONEY TO KEEP SNAP GOING. They’re just choosing not to. (2/3)

This year’s class of 22 MacArthur Fellows includes not one, but *TWO* Mainers!

What makes this so special is how both recipients have used their genius to highlight the Indigenous experience: Jeremy through his extraordinary basketweaving, and Margaret through her game-changing cartography. (1/2)
Two Mainers awarded prestigious MacArthur ‘Genius grants’
Jeremy Frey, a Passamaquoddy artist, and Indigenous cartographer Margaret Wickens Pearce both received the $800,000 award.

One thing I would like more people, and I mostly mean my fellow men, to understand is that no matter how smart you are, other people are also smart and some of them have tried to work on the same problems you’re working on. If a simple solution hasn’t been found yet, there probably isn’t one.

This bill is literally taking food out of the mouths of children to give tax breaks to millionaires. It's wrong and it's immoral.

I'm urging all my colleagues to vote no so we can start over and work together to deliver a responsible, bipartisan spending bill.

Juneteenth is a powerful testament to the resilience of Black Americans.

While we celebrate the fight for freedom and justice, today also serves as a reminder that our work is far from over.

On June 19, 1865, the last slaves in Galveston, Texas rejoiced as they received word of their freedom. 160 years later, we recognize #Juneteenth as a celebration of their strength, resiliency and dreams, and recommit ourselves to working toward a more just and fair society.

Let me be clear: the President does *not* have the authority to take us to war with Iran without the approval of Congress.

The last thing we need is to be thrust into another forever war. Congress must assert its Constitutional authority and insist on blocking further hostilities with Iran. (2/2)
