Ideology:
1. How the world should be.
2. Why it isn’t and who is to blame
3. What is to be done

Cassandras:
1. They say 1-3
2. They mean 1-3
3. The base will back 3

In my view, you’ve made a profound insight with the “Cassandra song”, in which you identify the basics of the Cassandras’ argument. It strikes me that it’s related to the base argument of an ideology.

As a past Cassandra on another issue — Bin Ladin and al-Qa’ida — I found this article insightful on every level: the base argument made by Cassandras, that they were able to see that there was a pattern in the noise and distraction, why they could see it, and why they are ignored is familiar.

Re Mark Kelly, I’m watching A Few Good Men and it got me wondering, what IS the penalty for a bringing false accusation against a senior officer?

Agree 100%

Socialism is not Communism. Democratic socialism is not “pure” socialism. Crack a book, or stop supporting lies for your agenda, whatever that is.

Republicans said decades ago that you can’t help everyone, including the “12%” who did not have insurance. They haven’t changed. Why think they will change now?

This is what I see from my students. ChatGPT can help research, it is not research.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

The hard ones are trusting yourself when the hand-picked lawyer for the senior person — often the President in our case— says its legal but you are pretty sure it isn’t.

I worked for the CIA. Counterterrorism. I disobeyed illegal orders. Anyone else?

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

I’ve been there too, for a different reason. Give yourself grace. It’s ok to reset, to just be.

That’s nice re Democratic strategy Lawrence O’Donnell, but meanwhile I will not have health insurance next year.

Hegseth’s speech today is one more indication they plan to invade other countries and declare martial law in our own. Why not comply with the laws of war? To invade. Why practice in cities? Why emphasize “brutality”? Etc etc.

It’s hard to know for sure, but I think we need to focus on getting our sense of community back, physically and inclusively. We can be divided when we don’t interact enough

Cancelled Disney+ today. I love the content but love my country more. I did not defend my country from terrorists for this.

CNN has made the editorial decision to keep playing this clip on air for guests making sure they get the full context of what Kimmel said.

Good.
1. Just so we’re clear, this is the clip that got Jimmy Kimmel’s show shelved by ABC.

If I’m missing any other clips please let me know.

The last political column I was allowed to write in the @washingtonpost.com was a criticism of Obama.

His people took issue with my piece, but we were respectful.

Now he is tweeting in support of me.

This is how free political speech and respect for debate *actually works*.

Or used to work.
