It's no longer about restoring what was before. It's about building what comes after.

This is exactly what you voted for, honey.

This has to be the ultimate goal. Combining the services that weigh asylum cases, process visa and citizenship applications, with law enforcement and detention into one super-agency was a huge mistake.

Chuck Schumer's starting position should be as maximalist as possible -- complete abolition of ICE, resignations of Bovino, Homan, Noem and Miller, unmasking of all agents, and prosecution by state authorities of the murderers.

Don't start with what looks like a compromise half-measure.
Majority of the country now wants to abolish and/or dismantle ICE and yet Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. told the caucus the message had to be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

Once again it looks like Schumer is about to choke after getting a massive opportunity.

So pathetic and weak.
Senate Democrats plot strategy as DHS standoff deepens heading into shutdown week
Two sources who were on a Democratic caucus strategy call Sunday said Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told the group the message must be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

A major newspaper publishing guide to help people identify the munitions their government is using against them is a real "Late Republic America" timepeice that future historians will comment on.
Here's how to identify some crowd control munitions, canisters of which federal agents have left on the ground after deploying them against people in Minnesota. bit.ly/3YWp1jE

Don't stop there. Stephen Miller is the architect of this administration's war on the American people. Push your advantage as far as it will go.
Donald Trump must fire Kristi Noem immediately.

Or Democrats will initiate impeachment proceedings against her in the House.

We can do this the easy way or the hard way.

And the Trump administration will follow exactly none of these requirements. Meanwhile, the Dems, having squandered their momentum after public opinion shifted firmly into "abolish ICE" territory, will have declared victory and gone home while the war is still raging.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

A Dem Senator’s Harsh Takedown of Trump Hits Home: “Breaking Point”
As Trump scrambles to contain the damage from the latest ICE horrors, Senator Chris Murphy offers a sharp indictment of Trump-ICE lawlessness—and explains how Dems can meet the urgency of the moment.

And Chuck Schumer is more than happy to encourage everyone to look the other way.
The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

It's also true that weak leaders will try to hold on to any underling who makes them feel powerful, or at least right. I'd love to see Miller go, but Trump is probably helpless without him, and he knows it.
if bovino is out and conservatives are turning on noem then there is a real opportunity to demand that miller resign too.
January 27, 2026 at 2:37 AM
The minute they score even a minor victory, they surrender.
Honestly any Dem who gets on board with this ChatGPT like "restrain, reform and restrict" messaging written up by some cowardly messaging flack in DC for Schumer/Dems - should kiss his or her presidential or any higher aspirations good bye.

The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced the Democrats have to push their hand immediately. The parallels with the delays and subsequent failures after January 6th are blaring warning signs about what will happen if they don’t go after the issues with ICE and CBP at the root RIGHT NOW.

If Stephen Miller is still in the White House, that means the white nationalist gameplan is still all systems GO.

What we're witnessing is just window dressing and distractions.

Tom Homan is just as bad as Bovino, but less openly Nazi.

Keep your eyes wide open.

Bovino and Noem did exactly what their boss wanted them to do

Their boss is Stephen Miller

If he's still in charge, faces may change but the terror campaign will continue

I need people who were wrong about everything to actually look back and recognize that there was a reason they were wrong and maybe they need to update their understanding of the world.

Otherwise they don't really think they were wrong.
