Another way to think of this is that Trump's public and egregious displays of racism are like him handing out free "racism goggles" to his fellow Americans. Some won't put them on, but many will...and when they do, they can suddenly "see" stuff like Haitians eating pets, "illegals" voting, etc.

They do not need “more training.” They’ve had plenty. Their actions are a policy choice.

one of my strongest beliefs is that we're in our situation right now bc some of the most prominent talking heads (e.g. joe rogan, andrew schulz) are learning about politics in their 40s and 50s, instead of their teens and early 20s, and we have to go along for the ride as they learn basic things

DfTP emerged at a time when local cops were (mostly) killing Black people. Many swing voters think that’s the natural order of things.
Today, ICE is killing white normies. So people hear “Abolish ICE” much differently.
