jesse jackson was constantly played as a punchline on 90s late-night TV to the point that i didn't understand his history of activism and serious left-leaning political platform until i was much older. i have to think, to some degree, that was on purpose.

the cool thing about trying to shame people into “vote blue no matter who” is that it doesn’t work hasn’t worked and will continue to not work. You’re doing something that doesn’t work. Over and over again. You’re not going to convince any significant amount of people from your blue sky pulpit

Look, the PC parts shortage doesn't effect me. I have a PC that works! Sure I have to blast it with a fire extinguisher when it occasionally catches fire and it can only play games from 20 years ago but so what. You nerds go ahead and spend a fortune on some RAM. Suckers

AOC’s biggest problem if she runs for president is that the white men who control our media ecosystem will not so much put a finger on the scale to stop her as an entire hand

it can be done (see: Zohran) but it’s going to be blatant and it’s going to be infuriating
Have you ever once seen the New York Times quote Trump like this?

Good episode. Worth a listen if you don't know about these online communities that worship mass shooters
Garrison and @theserfstv.bsky.social discuss the online right’s attempt to weaponize the tragedy, misinformation about the shooter’s politics, and how the shooter's online footprint shows a growing obsession with other mass shooters.

This whole time liberals have been shouting that if we don’t prosecute ICE we will end up right back here. And now they are screaming if you don’t vote newsome you’re voting for Trump 2. We can assume newsome won’t prosecute ICE. By your own admission you are voting for Trump 2.

Again, all I'm asking is that any Democrat who wants my vote support 1. Reverting Trump's anti-trans policies, 2. Commit to fighting against the future erosion of trans rights, and 3. Support legislation codifying trans rights into law.

Very weird how many of you centrists think that's unreasonable

Watched dumb Stranger Things finale. Couldn't stop cackling "wiki-wiki-wild" because of giant wasteland spider. Synced one beat to the action and watched IN HORROR as it continued to match PERFECTLY.

I AM COMPELLED TO SHARE THE PAIN.

I do think there’s a certain type of Democrat that realizes it’s possible we are dealing with a perfect storm where almost any Democrat will win, and are terrified we might nominate radical candidates who will actually engage in needed change instead of status quo corporate centrist bullshit.
One of the interesting things this time around is just how hollow the whole thing sounds. In the past, people have been able to use the empty concept of electability to anoint and position the person they demanded, but now that Republicans are getting obliterated everywhere, that doesn't work.
If I were a Democrat concerned about winning elections and was hearing that a significant number of voters wouldn’t support Gavin Newsom in 2028, I would simply stop pushing Gavin Newsom in 2026.

I bet this hits so hard if youre stupid
I think most (not all) of the "I will never vote for Gavin Newsom" people are communists who are mad that Americans don't like communism and want to destroy the Democratic party out of revenge. They don't care how many elections Republicans win or how many trans people die as long as the Dems fall.

Charles Xavier: a school for gifted youngsters, like Timothy

Mother: but it’s a real school right?

Xavier: oh my yes

Mother: so he won’t be trained to kill

Xavier: oh no he certainly will

Mother: but he won’t actually have to do it

Xavier: oh no he certainly will

In the 70s, Sharp had a series of "Latte case" boomboxes; as the line went on, more and more got put into it, like TVs. One of the last in the line was the RatecaPuter - a latte-case boombox with a 2KB computer that could run SHARP Basic programs off of the built in tape deck.
