A very, very important peer-reviewed empirical study published in the academic journal Pediatrics shows that hormone treatment of young trans people decreases suicidality very significantly.

Doubtless it will be ignored by Simonoff et al, who are not even measuring this in the “Pathways” study.

First Farage platformed notorious UK anti-vaxxer, Aseem Malhotra, who insinuated that Covid vaccines caused the Royal Family’s recent cancers.

Now he’s openly trashing scientific method & evidence, pretending neither can be trusted & facts are a free for all.

This is deeply dangerous populism.
Farage asked on @lbc.co.uk whether he agreed with on the unproven link between paracetamol and autism

“I have no idea... We were told thalidomide was a v safe drug and it isn’t. who knows. I don’t know, you don’t know…when it comes to science I don’t side with anybody. It’s never settled.”

We’ve seen social media posts claiming 70% of those arrested at the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ march were counter-protesters.

There’s no evidence for this. The Met Police said only one of the 24 arrests was someone believed to be involved in the counter-protest.
What do we know about the arrests at the ‘Unite The Kingdom’ march? – Full Fact
Claims that most of those arrested were counter-protesters don’t tally with what the police have said.

Worth a read. Wild how easily rich people can get their opinions into influential news programmes just by setting up a think tank, presumably just by packaging their announcement in a way that comfortably fills a slot on a quiet morning.
NEW | a look at how a ‘new’ think-tank got coverage…

Dividing us is the whole point, the whole aim of everything Reform are about. They want that enemy within so, so badly, they crave it, so they can divide us.

bsky.app/profile/dsym...
As you watch Reform UK in action, please remember everything they do serves one purpose - to divide the world, and the UK, into an "us" and a "them".

All they care about is that their "us" wins power. Their "us" can be corrupt, violent, criminal, lying - they don't care - as long as their tribe win

Dismayed by the "I loathe Gl**ner but his arrest should scare us all" takes. The bar for arrest over a social media post *should be extremely high*, but a guy who's harassed trans people 19 hours a day for 8 years, telling his 600k fans to attack any trans women they see, clears that bar v easily?

This is the quintessential Farage. Wild simplistic statements hitting a wall of reality when questioned.
Farage promise to "stop the boats within two weeks of winning gov't" unravelling.

Apparently, it means "after passing laws", "as quickly as possible", he "believes", the boats will still cross, but all will be deported "if necessary" and "sensible", "unless we have a duty of care".

Bravo, Beth! 👏🏽

I've read Sir Laurie Magnus's conclusion and Rayner's resignation letter.

Rayner did breach the ministerial code, but in a very minor way. Under previous governments, we saw more serious breaches on a daily basis without consequence.

I hope her absence from government is short.

Tax aside, this is objectively a very sad end to Rayner’s political career: a teenage single mum from a deprived family who went onto be deputy prime minister. The right wing press detested her for not knowing her place. Their glee at her downfall will be palpable in tomorrow’s front pages.
