Could Katie Lam identify the London schools where "more than three-quarters of children don’t speak English to a serviceable school standard". Well done to @davehillonlondon.bsky.social for giving Lam + CPS the chance to substantiate this claim at the Tory fringe

Dave Hill: Katie Lam should learn London's language

Toad and Frog went down to the river. “What a day for a swim,” said Frog.

Oh a small treat? Once a week? As society burns down around them? Good heavens where are my pearls
“At the same time, more than half of Gen Z members say they are struggling to make ends meet, yet a majority buy themselves a small treat, such as a pastry, coffee, or sweet, at least once a week. That can lead to overspending…”

Great training with @karenlumsden.bsky.social today looking at conducting challenging qualitative interviews. It’s made me want to do a few things differently when I collect my qual data. Do check out Karen’s courses! #PhDSky

Good morning. Off to campus for a morning’s postgraduate researcher development training, followed by a visit to the library. Last week I was late due to a highly unwise decision to take a different bus. Sticking with the number 4 today! Wearing fancy trainers in an attempt to feel perky

But we were told “legitimate concerns“ wasn’t code for hating Black people
Conservative Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp repeatedly refusing to say that he thinks Reform MP Sarah Pochin saying she doesn't like seeing black people on TV was racist.
Says he wouldn't use her "language" but it's right for her to express "legitimate concerns" about migration

Enough is enough: this ethno-nationalist obsession is infecting British politics and it has to stop.

No, the Greens aren't "enabling Reform"
Labour and "Centrism" is doing and has done that.
This follows all historical precedent too.
Pandering to hate only ever results in hate.
Failing to give hope only enables far-right shift.
(I’m in the UK before US folk pounce on this…)

We’ve had an absolutely super week with my wonderful stepdaughters and their babies visiting but it’s been tricky being Nain (grandma) while multitasking on PhD and research officer job. Next time they come, which sadly won’t be until Feb, I’m going to take the week off and just enjoy their company

Just attended my first EDI working group for the school of psychology. The whole school is being moved from one building to another so there was lots of discussion about how this is being handled/communicated and how students’ EDI needs will be met. It’s a big project
