Parts of South Carolina were on high alert over the weekend as dangerous storms rolled in.
I wrote an opinion column for the Post and Courier about how life-saving NOAA’s National Weather Service is - and how we must protect it.

Commentary: US Weather Service saved SC lives. Now their jobs are in danger.
Supporters of smaller government may be celebrating the recent firings at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, but the safety of South Carolinians has just been compromised.

Regardless of where we live or how we vote, extreme weather puts us all at risk: and we know, without a shadow of a doubt, climate change is making it worse.

To build resilience, we need more data, more expertise, more preparation, more communication to keep people safe—NOT LESS!

What the Floods in Texas Tell Us About Climate Change

The Senate passed its version of the budget reconciliation bill today. While this version of the text does remove the tax on future wind and solar projects, it still features harmful weakening of clean energy tax credits.

Now, the bill moves to the House. Tell your Rep to vote no!

This @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social video is absolutely INCREDIBLE. The numbers he cites, the strategy and results they produced — it’s the future. When have you heard *any* campaign talk about this, ever? (Video split in 2 to fit in Bluesky’s limits)

I've had the BBC on an hour and I've already heard the anchors discuss climate change twice — once in a whole explainer connected to the heat wave currently pounding the UK and EU and once in the coverage of the private jets flying to the Sanchez-Bezos wedding.

Why can't we have this in the US? 😭

The Senate is scheduled to begin voting on the final budget reconciliation bill tomorrow — including a phaseout of America’s clean energy tax credits. We need to flood the Senate with calls now urging a “NO” vote.

If my husband and I start to get irritated with each other, my six-year-old darts to the light switch, flickers it on and off and announces: “The ghost doesn’t like it when you fight.”

The UK is on course for another very poor harvest thanks to hot, dry conditions. When I ask climate researchers what they fear most, the invariable answer is "multiple harvest failures".

Misinformation: A Telegraph guide

1️⃣Find apparently shocking stat: EV fires "up 77%" 😱
2️⃣Always round up ("nearly double")🤔
3️⃣Downplay context: There are 105% more EVs🙉
4️⃣Sideline wider truth: EV fires 5-6x *less* likely🙊
5️⃣Add quote to cover yourself🙈

Extremely powerful from @natashadevon.bsky.social. In the UK, far more women are joining the Green party than men are joining Reform. Yet the media narrative is that it is Reform that is ascendant.

“The data center industry is booming all over,” and utilities across the country are polluting more to meet data center energy demands, all when scientists agree that cutting fossil fuel emissions is more urgent than ever.
Georgia was about to retire coal plants. Then came the data centers.

Announced yesterday: "Federal scientists will no longer update a list of weather disasters that cause billions of dollars in damage."

Ignoring the problem doesn't solve it.

Even without a formal list, the impacts of these disasters will still be devastating. www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2025...

It's bad enough to ignore the problem of climate change.

It's also bad to disrupt work on a report *required by Congress.*

It may still come out, but it's unclear “whether it is going to reflect credible science & be of real use to [...] prepare for climate change.”

National Climate Assessment Authors Are Dismissed by Trump Administration
The Trump administration told researchers it was “releasing” them from their roles. It puts the future of the assessment, which is required by Congress, in doubt.

News media loves covering offshore wind protests.

Yesterday I covered a 100-person rally *supporting* offshore wind in NYC.

Attendees: electricians, retirees, college grads, charter boat captions, and a whale biologist.

The local CBS affiliate was there too👇
